When a change has been made to server size, migrating to latest update doesn’t change the size of existing servers. In fact, even shutting down all servers doesn’t impact server size.
Expected behavior
When servers are migrated to latest update (or shut down), the new servers should reflect the new server size.
I noticed this but didn’t report it because I think it’s intentional behavior:
Let’s say you’re doing an update to your game where you’ve changed the server size from 50 to 40 and you click “Migrate to Latest Update” - all servers on an older version of the game are shut down, and Roblox teleports each servers’ players to a new server, keeping them all together. How would Roblox teleport a server full of 50 players to a new one with a max player count of 40? I guess they could improve this by making it so if some players can’t fit into the new server size, it distributes them to other, emptier servers, but this would create varying behaviors of “Migrate to Latest Update” that can differ from the expected one. CCing @SuperPat77 here for input
Even if this were the case for “Migrate to Latest Update”, one would still expect shutting down all servers to generate new servers with the correct size. At present there seems to be no way to change server size other than letting the older servers die out (which can take several days).
Thanks for the report. This is more of an oversight than a bug. I’ll file a ticket for it
Workarounds:
Wait it out. Absolute worst case should be one week for the new size to be fully rolled out as all the old servers close
Mark your experience private and then public. This is pretty destructive (no auto-reconnect and VIP server subscriptions will be canceled) but it should get all servers on the new player size
