Hello, I created a new survival type game that involves mining. Basically you try to survive for 15 minutes in a mine while mining ores for money. Other players can kill you and random traps occur every 2-3 minutes that will try to kill you.
You also gain exp and level up to become stronger (do more damage and have more health) as you mine. If you die, your level resets to 1.
Level is capped at 99 with fixed increase in damage/max health so that a player can’t have trillion health and do trillion damage.
If you survive the mine, you get a cash reward based on how long you survived for. I am testing for bugs and looking for suggestions on how the game can be improved or if I should just scrap it all together.
It’s a decent idea, although nothing super unique about it. It’s just like any other simulator game.
It works, which is something I actually don’t see often.
The Bad
It’s a simulator. I personally don’t have a heart for most simulators, because they all do the same thing; do an action, level up, get stuff, repeat. There isn’t much to it.
It’s very shallow, and there is no objective. No shop, no inventory, no unlocks, nothing.
The game is outrageously bland. There isn’t any music, the SFX are dull, the background is boring, and it just makes the game not feel fun. Mining does not feel satisfying, as it’s just a default Roblox swing animation and a block breaks into four pieces. In addition, there also isn’t much UI, and the UI there is isn’t consistent in theme.
Verdict
I would take this idea and transform it into something other than a simulator, and you might have a bit of success. Put more competition in there, and fix issues present.
The overall concept is decent i see it’s kinda different from other simulator games if that’s what your aiming for.
Despite having good music and overall tool effects, the area in your game is lacking. The cave is unrealistic, the map is small, and stiff I think spawning the user’s above the map and they’ll have to create a mine that’ll probably improve the overall player experience upon joining it kinda looks like I’m forced to mine the tool effects are kind of on the plain side you could try including like hitting a rock or digging to match with the tool sound:
Going about the gameplay, there is simply nothing to do. Attack other miner workers?. Mine yellow blocks? There are no features into digging or mining the walls to find different objects I’m sure mining don’t feature a flat terrain with random stones lying on the floor you should try placing some in the wall, ground, ect.
As well as for the miners I don’t think attacking them will help in a kind of way, people will just play this game just to attack other players, but I found that caves or mining areas don’t have flat plain terrain adding elevation maybe mine carts vegetation grounding from the walls and floor will improve the overall build in general.
Having players attacks other miners for no reason will be kind of boring they’ll just keep attacking the same user’s over and over again consider making the mine more larger so everyone won’t get attacked very easily.
As said above shops, buildings, inventory, ect. Will be a nice addition to add because then they’ll be a way to collect your object mining without collecting anything is pretty boring that players will just leave quickly: At the start, it’s an awesome game this is something that I’ll play hope to see where you take this in the future. Best of luck on your project!
Honestly this game kinda had me hooked for a bit, it’s a very good concept and I dont think its a simulator at all, I think yeah theres some things you should improve on but overall this game is pretty good and with a better concept it will be great, good luck!
