Mining INC

So I released my new game Mining INC yesterday, and it climbed from 0 players to 1st spot on popular, 890 players, in 3 hours after release (I was astounded.) on a Tuesday night…

Im looking for constructive criticism on the game including suggestions, concerns, comments, first impressions etc. Keep it somewhat nice.

I’m glad that someone is taking a new look at these sort of games and so I went ahead and gave it a shot to see what I could see. I only have five things to complain about 2 of which are gameplay oriented and two are more UI/prices oriented. First thing I noticed when I got in was that when purchasing a truck and switching thru the different ones was that the camera angles were weird and that for two of the trucks you couldn’t see the truck because a wall was in the way. Second thing was that I felt that even though you require a gamepass to purchase that one truck 200 is far to cheap for ingame currency it should be at least 2l-4k price wise IMO. Third thing was vehicle related and that the trucks are far to easy to drive up walls which actually led to it being difficult to drive them as well as only being able to turn when driving forward led to getting stuck in a corner very easy. fourth thing was that when talking to “alan” you have to retalk to him to spawn a truck after purchasing it which means you have to retrigger whatever event you have set up to start talking with him. and the fifth thing was that the game was very dark in the mines, perhaps make the truck lights brighter and/or allow the purchase of lights for players to place in the mine. I loved your camera animations and the general aesthetic of the game and I think you are with some work going to get it to be a very popular game for quite awhile. Sorry for the wordwall. :stuck_out_tongue:

Writing this while playing, so the lay-out of my feedback may look a bit weird.

Okay, so, first off: I like the intro. However, you got too few places for the camera to interpolate. If I’m correct, there only seem to be 4 different shots and it’s possible to see the same ones after each other. I’d like it if you could add a few. You got the system for it already. Other than that, great usage of the camera.

When you go to buy this truck:

Your camera will point at the wall. You can still rotate the camera, but it just looks a bit odd. This happens too for other vehicles because you use the same relative angle for the camera. Also, the camera acts a bit buggy when trying to scroll through multiple vehicles at once. Other than that, I really dig the statistics for each vehicle. Most players probably wouldn’t look at it, but it’s great for those who don’t want to waste money on awful vehicles.

Consider changing the price of the Median to be something like 3100. This way, new players have enough money to buy a hauler, driller and excavator in one go.

The map and the buildings look really great. Everything is detailed enough to make it look nice without using too many parts.

Mine map, neat touch. The downside though is that it’s a bit laggy every time you select it. Would it be possible to change it so frames are only created and deleted for newly discovered areas? It would make the map lag only when you first select it.

It can be quite hard to see where you’re going when you’re riding around in the mine. Consider making it possible to make your vehicle slightly transparent.

This is all the feedback I have for now.

The game itself is very fun!

Few things:

  1. It’s easy to get stuck in the mines. If you drive into an area with no drive path, your truck can’t get out. How about something that teleports your truck back to the top?
  2. When talking to Alan and you click on one of the buttons and return, the dialog goes away when you come back. This becomes really time consuming when going to buy a truck and going to use it.
  3. Picking up ores is really awkward. Looks like you have to like backup onto the part, even then does it barely pick up.

I just fixed the Mammoth glitch on new servers (I think…) v1.01

I am going to possibly redo the entire drive script since apparently everyone hates it. Also the drive is a bit laggy cause the client replication is terrible with FE and body force/gyro.

I am going to add a hand pick up tool and a pick axe cause why not. The trucks getting stuck is more of a hazard thing so idk what il do about that but its just kind part of the game.

The shop and Alan is something I want to redo to make it all bundled together.
Picking up ores it mostly suppose to be done by excavators putting them into haulers but I guess my tutorial isnt good enough so il add some stuff to that.

Lighting inside the mine is something I want to improve on, so il think of a clever way to do that, if you notice fog sets in within the mine to give you some sense of depth so idk if that helps that much or not.

Thanks everyone

I notice, how the cars keeps flipping over each other, and driving everywere xD
Also, it’s not fixed in 1.01 xD I just tested, i still spawn with the wheels inside the spawn ground.

I managed to glitch it out of the ground some times Heh.

I like the game, but any particular reason the GUI’s go offscreen? (And stay offscreen reguardless of me resizing my roblox window)

RIP Mega Miners 2010-2015

Game looks really cool, I’ll edit this post when I have sufficient feedback.

It’d be nice to have a menu that didn’t require you to wait 5-10 seconds each time to fade/camera tweening. Maybe a skip on the intro too? and being able to purchase the mammoth without moving servers.

I love this game. I have 3 comments about it though…

  1. Pure Mercury is a liquid at room temperature.

Me and some dude decided to drive straight in the mines, tumbling everywhere to try and gather the ores, because no one puts them in your truck for you.

Then we got stuck collecting the same ore.

I have experianced both of the images over heh xD

That moment when a guest hitches a ride in your truck, then you find gold on the surface and jump out to get it, then the guest hops in you truck and runs off with the gold

Love the tutorial.

Do you track what percentage of new users clicks it? I imagine it is helping you a lot.

Also I love all the machines.

Have you played the board game called “Container”? I think you might like it.

Found some more issues…

Incorrect ore names, are brick colors in some cases.

The game is so fun to mine or mess with physics. :]

Seem to have a ‘phantom block’ glitch: About half of all blocks in the game in the two servers I played will just stop interacting: Cant be picked up by tool or excavator, cant be loaded, wont be picked up by the arms if dropped into the smelting area. Really causing a problem.

The pick up tool seems to break them. Probably something that tells the blocks not to interact while being held does not remove when dropping.

Ya the Pick Up tool seems to break bricks from being picked up anymore, I have a large update with lots of fixes coming out tonight that fixes that, along with Laggy Datastores and Lag in general, and other random small bugs… Im really trying hard to iron out all the bugs :stuck_out_tongue:
