Mixamo animations are not loading in Roblox Studio

Hello everyone!

So, I have a problem with importing Mixamo animations to the Roblox Studio. :smiling_face_with_tear:

I have imported Skinned Feminine R15 Avatar into the Mixamo and download animation with it.
When I import export animation with skinned mesh from Mixamo to Studio, animation is working only with the imported Skinned Avatar.

So, when I try to import animation from fbx or published to roblox animation to a new Skinned Feminine Avatar, animation does import itself, but it is empty and it can’t be played. It is just empty.

Animation in question is simple idle animation (with imported Roblox Skinned R15 Avatar):

Does anyone, please, have any help or suggestions and advices about this?

Thank you so much in advance!

The reason for this is because when you upload the character obj to Mixamo, Mixamo auto-rigs the character model to be compatible with their animations. These imported animations won’t work for roblox avatars because the animation is made only for the mixamo rigs. Similarly to how you can’t play R6 animations on R15 rigs. This is just how roblox’s animation system works.

Thank you so much for your fast reply!
But, how does people then convert Mixamo animations to Roblox? And they are still able to use that animations on Roblox avatars?

Thanks! However this is still saying that Mixamo anims works only on imported rig and animations are not usable on Roblox rigs?

Idunno much about how mixamo does their animations but You could use the video to animation import feature to “copy” the animation to an r15.

Yeah, that is one of the solutions but the Roblox Video AI animations is a bit chunky.

To use mixamo animations in roblox, you have to use the same rig style that mixamo uses. When you import the mixamo rig to roblox, you can see that it is rigged using bones, while roblox rigs use motor6d. The mixamo animation is playing on the bones and that is why it does not play for default roblox avatars. I just don’t simply think it is possible to play the animations on default roblox rigs because of that.

If possible, can you show me examples of people using the mixamo animations on roblox rigs and maybe I could figure out how they did it.

but that is outdated. I want to know how to make it since my game is relied on r15 rigs and not skinned meshes

This video is very interesting. You can follow the video and try it out for yourself and see if it still works. However, the plugin to import roblox compatible rigs into blender seems to be broken at the moment. Maybe there is another one out there somewhere.
