More efficient ways to get paid for commissioned work

The Problem

Before I go on, I’d like to apologize in advance if this is an incorrect subcategory to post this in. I will move it as soon as I can if that’s the case.

As an artist on the platform, I usually find it very hard to get paid in Robux for my work efficiently. I encountered a lot of instances in the past, when I couldn’t get paid instantly, due to some limitations that restricted me or the developer from paying me right at that moment. Now yes, you might say “Well then don’t do Robux commissions”, and I very well understand that. While I still do Robux commissions, I consider switching to other payment methods more and more everyday because of these problems.

The main problems that make things harder for me, as an artist, are group limits and the ability to sell clothing made available only for players having a membership. I often can’t get paid via group funds because my slots are full. I have to purchase a membership to just get that single payment and doing this frequently really becomes an irritant… Same goes with clothing solution - I can’t sell clothing unless I’m a builders club member. And I don’t even want to go in-depth about the additional % of the price that gets lost in the transaction due to a tax that’s put in place. It seems like unless you have a membership purchased, there’s no way of getting paid other than group funds.

Solution

Now I don't ask for the group limit to be removed/increased or removing the tax from selling clothes, no! I just want to see a more efficient way of receiving payments for the work I do. Something that would be accessible for all types of players (regardless of their membership) and/or filled group slot count. The only thing that I can think up (while writing this post) is a direct transaction system of some sort, which would let player1 pay player2, but only if both sides confirm the transaction. This would make my life so much easier and I think would even come in handy in other scenarios as well.

If anyone has any better solutions or ideas, I’d love to hear them  I didn’t come prepared with a ton of ideas, because I just wanted to write this post to point out the problem.

Thanks for reading and have a great day everyone!

I just pay through venmo or PayPal

I occasionally do PayPal as well and I want to switch over it entirely someday. It’s way more simple through those platforms, but regardless, I feel like Roblox needs to have something to offer something to those, who don’t use other methods at all.

I am not sure PayPal should be the platform of choice. Steve from Gamers Nexus stated in his Ask GN episode on YouTube that PayPal takes out about 18%, or 36 cents per 2 dollars, according to him.

I did know that they took some kind of percentage off, but I didn’t imagine it being anywhere near 18%… Thanks for letting me know!

I second this post. My friend’s group was recently locked for “Real World Money Deals”, when he was in-fact not explicitly receiving any money for the Robux he payed out. Instead, he was paying out for commissioned work, and investing/sponsoring other peoples games. There needs to be a way to transfer robux without Roblox thinking that you are participating in “shady” deals. Although this doesn’t relate to the post itself, I could not find a better place to put this thread other than here.
