I’ll put that into my next report of gears, I usually pick out a bulk amount of items and put it all onto a report. Don’t want too much and not too little on a single post.
Illumina and Dual Illumina don’t have textures, it’s technically working as intended. It just looks weird because these gears rely on skybox Reflectance to give it a shiny look, and this doesn’t render properly in 3D preview.
I wonder if some kind of invisible skybox in the avatar render + 3D preview could solve the issue (and particle color issues at the same time?), but it seems rather complicated.
I mean for such expensive items such as the Illuminas are, they should have a viewable texture in 2D and not just in 3D. I’m hoping they would be able to fix the items, but if they don’t then not much we can do.
Adding a texture to the 3D model is probably not the best fix, as a side effect, it would ruin the look of the item in game. One of the things that makes the Illumina items so iconic is that they have genuine Reflectance instead of a static texture.
Making the Reflectance look good for both 2D and 3D views on the site is high effort for a tiny benefit. Other tickets should be higher priority. I would much rather they focus on:
Fixing particle colors for the 2D avatar renders (affects potentially 100s of items, including Illumina, so very high impact)
Fixing Ghostwalker and Icedagger transparencies (should be a much easier lift)
Bumping post, I noticed two of these items for the handles were fixed but not the rest of the items listed on this post. Just curious if this will be taken further for fixing or will be another day.
