Move/Rotate Increment Presets

While using custom increments for dragging parts or rotating them, I have found out that I have to type the increment each time because of various changes needed to be done.

Could we also get custom increment presets? Before that update, there was an ability to select which increment we want to use: 1 stud, 1/5 stud and none.
Now that we have custom ones, it would be useful to create our own presets to quickly switch from e.g. 0.1 to 0.2 or 0.5.

Post down below on what you think about it.

The most annoying thing is not being able to switch between 0.1 and 0.2 without typing it every single time.

I think a combination would be useful for changing the increments.

For instance, if any of the manipulation tools are selected, maybe we could hold down a key on the keyboard, and scroll with the mouse wheel to get more precise increments per scroll, 2 for <20, 1 for <10, .1 for <1 and so forth

Maybe, but it’s more complicated.
What I had in mind were just few empty spaces, in which we could type what increment we want and then select it if we need. Simple to do I suppose.

I was thinking of holding productivity and efficiency in mind, but either one of these suggestions would help greatly. I use qCmdUtl if I need any more precise movement than .2 studs, so I recommend that for now.

You can actually do this. They still have the old increments (1 stud, 1/5 stud, and Off) and you can assign hotkeys to them and still use them. In this way you can actually have 4 increments, one of them being custom. I use this method all the time and it works quite well.

Well, I don’t want to use old increments. Just few increments-to-customize, and then switch from one to another easily

How much time do you actually spend typing the increment out? Personally, my bottleneck is in moving my mouse up to that part of the screen, finding the right thing to click on, and then moving my mouse back to the workpiece. Presets would not help with that.

Plug: As of last Wednesday, you can press Tab to auto-select the current tool’s increment box in SBS. Switching between increments is instantaneous for me now, ymmv.

It’s not much like a problem, something that NEED to be done. It’s simply an improvement, something that has been before and I would like it back in a new form, to match current custom increments

Id still rather have a key bind that halves and doubles the increment for me

Exposing setting these values to API would certainly allow for more customized behavior (keybinds, double increments, et cetera, as we can’t satisfy everyone here).

These seems like an acceptable API change as we can already retrieve these states from plugins.
