lets say you have an issue in #help-and-feedback:scripting-support and they are two ways to solve your issue each solution was given by different people and different reply’s.
now you could give the first person that answered the solution but is it fair? both users gave workable solutions both should receive a solution. its perhaps a small touch but it should be implemented. This would also allow readers to find mulitple solutions quickly
thats what happens but with an extra solution you can solutionize both posts also if this feature was added there could be a limit of perhaps 2 or 3 perhaps that could make it even or balanced in some way
That’s a contrary statement; for something to be the best, it has to be better than anything else.
Multiple solutions would just encourage users to give one to anybody who’s mildly helpful, and in the end kind of takes away the purpose of the solution feature: making it easier for a passerby to see the answer to a question. If you have 2, 3, 4, etc. solutions, it just makes that process way less simple.
And anyway, the cases you’d need this are pretty rare. I seriously doubt people are commonly running into the issue of two posts solving a problem with the same amount of efficiency, if ever. Otherwise there would be WAYY more requests for this. The fact that this entire feature request is built on hypotheticals is the nail in it’s coffin.
We should not have this. There is no way to do this with the settings of the plugin. And I DO NOT want Roblox to modify the plugin when they have more important stuff to work on.
I do not like the idea that it is multiple solutions. The thing is there is only one chosen solution because it outperforms another solution, or if there are underlying conditions that makes A better than B.
The right problem to address here isn’t about the solution, but the question in question that does not exactly match quality according to known standards about how to ask a question. If you ask a question too ambiguous, you’d expect a lot of answers(that’s a big shotgun!!!).
You can use Likes for posts that helped you out towards solving the problem.
As above, if your question was vague and there are multiple parts to the solution or multiple ways to solve the problem, then your question likely won’t be useful to many other people and won’t be found much in search, so there is little point in marking a solution at all.
The primary reason for marking a solution is so future readers can quickly find it, not to award people for their help.
I feel like this was created for the sake of creating a feature topic. Do you realize how much confusion this could cause? People could easily mark every reply as a solution.
It is fair, they replied first, they know the solution. It’s not that big of a deal to get your solution count up. Also roblox doesn’t make discourse plugins anyways, so this will never happen.
And when the solution was a tip? The topic creator (OP) got that tip and transformed that into a working solution. Just imagine this Topic with 10 post between the solution and the last reply. Would someone, how is quickly searching for something, read all of them and then use the last reply to solve the Problem?
There, it would be nice to have 2 Solutions, to “award” the guy, who replied (and possible informing a reader why he came to the conclusion) and for others, to easily use the Topic for their Problem(s).
While I do think this is a little of an uncommon issue, it would still be handy in certain situations.
Especially if one solution may not work in a certain circumstance, or some solutions are better for a different person.
It could get kind of confusing though, and there may need to be some other requirements that just make the whole thing messy.
I think this idea has some merit. While it is pretty problematic, it would work out in a perfect world!
