Today, I made my first composition ever in Soundtrap! Think about this. There is a bomb in the facility, and it’s ticking down. You’re scrambling to try and deactivate it. Now, with that in mind, listen to this. Does it go well with the theme?
I hope you guys like it! Here’s a quick poll. Be honest please!

I love it itself! But im not sure about a ticking timebomb, well its good but it should probably speed up or something dramatic towards the end, otherwise amazing!
edit: as @kaplablokje said a siren effect would add some intensity
I’m not a composer by any means but the song is kinda repetitve. You should probably speed up the song because it doesn’t feel like it is a ticking bomb.
If you mix it with some emergency sound effects (witch can be seperate from the soundtrack) would add a more scary vibe to it. overall good soundtrack! you could also make it get faster and faster each couple of seconds so you know that the timebomb is almost exploding
This doesn’t really stress me out, it only gives me a feeling of foreshadowing horror, which isn’t what you want.
I suggest you make some ticking in it and make the tempo fast. This will make the player want to go fast as well, and also stress them.
Take Train Rush from a Hat in Time for example. The music suddenly gets your heart pumping, and the music gets faster which makes the player stress more.
I feel like this is what would play right before something bad is about to happen. Maybe change the title to: Its Coming! or something that fits it better
With song making, you also want to include a variety of frequencies. Our ears actually get physically tired of listening to the same frequency for extended periods of time. I think this makes it especially hard on the composer.
There’s a lot of bass here and you’re primary track only goes over a small set of frequencies. So I’d recommend in future compositions, to have more freedom and adventure in the notes. Maybe switch up leading voices/ tracks. Play around with dynamics and mixing a bit.
That’s Sound So Good and Awesome!, I Like the Scary effect too, mix it with some emergency sound effects and make it faster and faster each couple of seconds and add a ticking sound and more!
But yeah, Thank you for reading this. have a nice day!
Looks like you need some percussions. Try adding shakers that go every 8th note or a fast hi-hat pattern that varies between 8th and 16th notes throughout the track, and strong hits every other bar.
Tempo-wise, try to ramp it as you reach the end like the example above.
First off, great work! You captured the feeling of suspense well but I think the intensity of the song does not match the scenario you’re describing, and tempo plays a large role in that. The speed it is at feels foreboding rather than the way a countdown should. Altering dynamics as well could create the effect of increased intensity if you, say, crescendoed steadily throughout the piece.
Also, it needs a bit more variety. I suggest you take themes from what you already have and create variations. You could even do this in a way that builds in intensity to fit your theme.
Lastly, the clarinet part in particular lacks musicality but that may not be your fault depending on the limitations of your software. At the moment it sounds as if each each note is being played individually rather than as a part of a phrase. To fix this you can crescendo and decrescendo that part as you think it should be in each phrase as well as change the velocity of each note to match, with a certain degree of randomness to make it sound less like it’s being played by a computer.
Once again, it was a pleasure to listen to your creation. I hope you found some of this helpful and I look forward to seeing what you create next!
