My first ever composition

Today I decided, that I will also try to compose music and not only use uncopyrighted music from SoundCloud. As I tried before, I later gave up. But today, I managed to do something:

Is this okay for my first composition?
  • Yes
  • Unsure
  • Nope
  • Give up

It sounds really messy and out of time. Listen to more music if you want to write music.

In my opinion, the tempo is too fast and it makes it sound confusing.

Everything is out of key, not sure what to say more to it, but it doesnt sound good

It’s… unbalanced and chaotic. It’s almost like you composed a random song using the recorder with the Grand Piano (Classic) in OnlineSequencer.net, added a violin MIDI track in your editing software and then said, “it’s good”.

Now, with online sequencer, it is much better to actually place the notes yourself. I’ve noticed that the music sounds much better at 0.25x speed, so I’d imagine that the main issue is that it’s too chaotic and lacks a proper rhythm. Try to align the notes to the grid.

super inconsistent in every aspect

get a melody and make sure the sounds are not different to a point where you get jumpscared

have two contrasts at most
“Just close your eyes - Atomic Blondie” has the instrumentals at pretty low tones but the vocals at a pretty high tone which gives a very nice sound despite the vocals not being louder or quieter than the instrumentals

You need to listen to a lot of music to kind of get the feel for how to compose music.
Once you can make stuff up as you go (for example whistle a song that doesnt exist, that you invent as you go) you know you are starting to get the hang of it.

Thats the problem… I do stuff like that, but I do not have the urge to tell world about it…

This one is a lot (a lot a lot a lot very very much) better than the first one
It just gets a bit repetitive, and maybe it’s a bit fast (although that depends on what you are going for)
but i really like it
especially compared to the first one

This one is much improved; however, it becomes repetitive after a while. It is likely that you’ve also used another software or tool to compose this music.

I have no idea what this is for, however, it is a reasonable starting point for future compositions. Try to add more tracks to your composition.

Got no idea on how to continue. It’s still a demo.

Nope, just me, my keyboard, and my phone. Got no cable to record directly from keyboard.

With that being said, the composition was great. I would suggest making the lower notes having a slightly longer length, and possibly also vary in key (I don’t know how this would sound, but if done correctly, it could likely sound good).
