Hi I am @IAmPinleon, and I wanted to start doing GFX renders. I needed to make a gem and coin GFX for my game. How do you like it? Is it good, or really bad for a first design? I have watermarks to make sure no one steals my work.
I see you got the background off google as a bunch of the same gems pop up… then you just added your name on top which is a MC Paint job. If you aspire to be a GFX artist, making things yourself would be a start. Don’t take this by offense, just some advice.
I didn’t take a google background, I’m being 100% honest. Though I will say, I did inspire off of one of them. My name is just a watermark to make sure no one steals it.
Even though they look similar, they are a little different (the shading). So, he definitely did not copy it, he must’ve only used it as reference.
But @IAmPinleon, the icons are great, but if you want, you can try making the gem have some “shine” and reflective surfaces on them to make the icon more appealing.
This is what I mean:
You can also add a star like a cliche toothpaste commercial has it in the people’s teeth:
You can also do this with the coin, adding a brighter tint one side of the coin:
That’s much better! If you want, you can also turn some of the faces of the gem really bright to give that reflective look. And you can also tint one of the corners of the going (with a light air brush or something).
But, of course, this looks significantly better right now and can stay as it is. You can do the above only if you want to go above and beyond.
