My First Refrigerator Build

Hi! I have recently been practicing building assets and models in Roblox Studio. Today I decided to make a refrigerator model and was looking for some feedback. It took 5 minutes to make.

Wow! Nice model. I have no feedback really. It would be cool to see it coded to open and close.

Nice work. Keep it up and maybe do some scripting.

Thanks for the suggestion! I will see if I can script it to open and close.

Gonna be honest, the fridge looks bland and I don’t really think it’s anything really special. Add more textures or change the material up a bit.

Thanks for the feedback. I will try use this advice in future builds.

Very nice! How about some fridge magnets?

I would suggest using solid modeling and meshes to make the front of the fridge more rounded. If you look at pictures of most modern fridges, the front bumps out quite a bit.

What is solid modeling and meshes?

You could use a cylinder mesh part (which is available from the parts tab in Studio) and then use the Union and Negate tool to cut a rounded piece to add to the front. As a builder, knowing how to use Solid Modeling will help you a TON, so I would definitely recommend watching this video:

Oh now I know what you mean. I have just never met the term “solid modeling” before.

I suggest a cylinder bevel. Fridges are perfect for these types of bevels, and it’ll make your model stick out. I also think the metal material would help.

In a perfect world, that’s what a fridge would look like. But nobody should settle for perfect, it’s almost unfun.

Anyways, here’s some tips/ideas I have:

  • Add magnets/notes to the fridge. Comedic notes would be funny.
  • Add an ice/water dispenser.
  • Add a company label, most fridges have them, could be comedic or serious!
  • Make the handles more curved, meshparts or unions could work.
  • At the top of the fridge, add a little circle. I’m not sure the technical names but fridges need them so the doors actually open.
  • Try to create a theme. I feel like the fridge you created is either something I’d have in my garage or I’d see at a cubical office. Maybe turn it red and try to create a retro theme? I think it’d look great!

Goodluck!

It does look kinda bland, but I don’t know what more you would add to it, so it’s good.

Nice starter fridge! Try making an older model one from the 70’s or so to see if you can replicate that

Would you mind explaining what is a bevel?

Good job! This looks very clean and simple. It also resembles a fridge amazingly well. I am amazed that you were able to make this in only 5 minutes!

Very simple and pleasing to the eyes :+1:

Sure, this is what a bevel is.

So it’s a small bit like a union?
