My game has issues with rule breakers and reputation

Hello, I’m not sure if a question like this has been answered before.

  1. What do you want to achieve?
I want a better reputation for my game etc.

  2. What is the issue?
Unlike other roleplay games, mine has lots of rule breakers that abuse or misuse game features, for example, the votekick system.

  3. What solutions have you thought of so far?
Making the game more strict, hiring more moderators/staff/admins/supervisors, pretty much everything.

  4. Did the solutions work?
Not really. It’s difficult hiring new moderators/staff/admins/supervisors because they could abuse their admin powers. I have over 10 trusted moderators/staff/admins which are 13+ (some of them aren’t active but some of them are.)

So my game Comedy World RP Fixed, which is a bit popular roleplay game with 2d morphs and custom images, also has pretty much a lot of features, it has issues with rule breakers and a bad reputation, the rule breakers will attempt to or break the game rule(s) (mostly interrupting or ruining roleplays, abusing votekick). It has a few bugs (mostly rare bugs which don’t occur mostly) and I have tried almost everything I thought of (Mentioned in number 3), but no luck. I don’t know why other games with similar features like votekick don’t have issues with rule breakers and reputation. I’m very disappointed. I’m also working on a few improvements as I’m typing this which will bring back custom reasons for the votekick. The game has some anti-cheats which will detect basic cheats (spam, blacklisted GUIs and tools, etc.) (excluding fly, noclip)

I need advice on how to improve my game’s reputation. I will appreciate it a lot.

After seeing your game for a little bit

The game in general is more so on the community side so moderating everything isn’t possible; Though there are a few things you can do to prevent some of these issues.

The Feedback/Reporting Feature

  • You have the report/feedback player feature which is great though it would cause issues with false reports/general misuse. The downside to this is the many false reports this could cause without firm evidence which would lead to useless reports for your moderators/admins to investigate

Things you can do to make this easier are create a separate tab for reporting players with an easy-to-see UI, along with an addition to moderation, create a channel for specifically player reports, use this to receive these types of messages, and things to incorporate in the report logs are…

  • A player’s image is being used in-game.
  • The player’s chatlogs.
  • Along with the player’s account date of creation.
Also incorporating information about the player who sent the report, to prevent false reports.

The Votekick Feature (Break-down)

  • After visiting the game, I noticed the countless number of vote kicks happening on the server, this isn’t good as it does give your game, even more, hate and dislike which gives a “hated reputation”. It is quite easy to click on a player and choose a reason to kick them, this is faulty because of a server piling onto a single person and choosing yes/no with a click of a button.

The main thing about this feature is it doesn’t fit all games, the issue here is mostly your player based while not too young, many are minors who don’t know any better and would just go about clicking the “Yes” option for the vote kick. This does cause havoc in the long run because of the random false kicks, players might quit after their first “random kick”.

The main point here is it isn’t too good to have a vote kick system in this game UNLESS you’re willing to make it work specifically for your game. Here are a few things you could do:

  • Make the vote kick UI smaller so it doesn’t obstruct so much of the screen, while this doesn’t seem like much of a problem, many players will make a glance and either hit “Yes/No”, will make a quick response to this by pressing yes/no based off the chat itself or by randomness. This will lead to random responses and people just wanting the vote kick UI to go away.

Consider making the UI smaller in size so players can just leave it up to other players to choose an option.

  • Another thing would be a limit to how many people CAN be vote kick in a short period of time, while this does seem to harm the game in terms of needing to get people out of the game immediately, this does stop the occasional “spam of vote kicks” to random players. This being server-wide and not being directly a stop to a single person trying to vote to kick a player.

Consider adding a minute cooldown to every vote kick done in-game or longer. This will stop players from immediately wanting to remove the player and rather want to argue/reason with the player, this would diffuse some of the problems seen in having this vote kick system.

  • One final thing you can do is limit how the vote-kick system works. As this game has many minors, they don’t know any better about handling these situations. It is best to make vote-kicking work in a certain way. Some ways you could do this are:
  1. Making a limit on how many people you’re able to vote kick in a certain amount of time.
  2. Your account must be 2-14 days old before issuing a votekick.
  3. Kicking not only keeps a player out of the game but rather lets them defend why they’re innocent.
  4. Making vote kicks ONLY accessible by long-time players or players with a certain “attribute” like if they’ve spent more than 2+ in-game.

The Rules in Place

  • Something I noted while I was inside the game was the rules section. This was extremely long and I was able to click out of it immediately without reading any of it or reason to. Most players will NOT read the rules out for reasons them knowing what is morally right and wrong. The issue here is your game has many minors so making a proper rules section is best.

Some things you could do to make players actually follow the rules are:

  • Make the rules section shorter, make each rule a sentence or two, and don’t be so descriptive! Most players are able to distinguish the limits to how these rules work. Specify the punishment given for the rules by color coding the punishment so players can pinpoint what happens if they do break a rule.

  • Some of the rules aren’t needed, things like “begging for admin” or “framing other players”. The issue with rules like these is they will not stop the people who actually do so, most players who do these things are either trolls or minors. If this is an issue, I would go about ignoring these players entirely.

  • Another point is “interrupting roleplay”, as much as this is very annoying, there are many reasons why a player might be framed for doing such. I would suggest adding a “ghost” feature that would hide another player’s character and all of their chat by option. This would keep roleplays well intact without causing issues with vote kick/reporting.

  • One final thing about the rules section is the agreeing to them, as much as it is annoying to have a wait time for when a player can accept these rules, it is necessary for your game. Make it so you have to wait a good 3-10 seconds before accepting these rules, this will prevent players from speeding through into the game and causing havoc later on.

Moderation

  • Now I did see that you did have over 10+ staff, which is great but having them inactive isn’t. The thing about having staff is for them to help you with management and issues involving the community. There are a few things you can do to help with moderating the game.

  • Depending on who you hire to moderate the game, each person has their ideas/moralities for each situation found in-game. You need moderators who are active and capable enough to handle these situations. Find people from different time zones and people who are active on Roblox.

  • Give them reason moderate, as many of them are inactive, I would consider giving them a call on whether they’d like to stay as a moderator. It’d ask them if they would like to stay moderating and that they must fill a quota for the game.

  • Knowing that they’re mods/admins, I assume they’re rankings for their hard work, its good to promote these people to trusted ranks, giving them a sense of duty and reason to work for it. Consider giving them benefits in-game, not only command additions but also cool server events and cosmetics to “Wow!” the crowd.

Conclusion

Your game is capable of fixing itself with some small yet useful features that will help it in the future. Take everything into account and find more ideas to improve everything. Think inside the mind of a player, a staff member, a player that dislikes your game, or an outsider who sees your game for the first time and is curious enough to click on it and would like a nice experience.

Good luck with the rest.

Hello,
I appreciate the support.
I will improve the game with your suggestions. (making the vote kick UI smaller, fixing the rules, and improving the game in general) And also,
The game does require your account age to be at least 14,
The vote kick has a 60 second cooldown (I will extend it to 2 - 5 minutes),
The game will be 9+ (Younger players can still play the game, but some features might be removed or limited.)
