Me and my friend recently released a game on roblox, I am aware that there are other games like ours, but a particular game has outright stolen our Icon and thumbnail and slapped it on their game.
And the best part? They have a larger playerbase than us.
Is there anything I can do? I’ve heard about DMCA’s but not sure how effective that would be, any other methods?

Maybe you can use Roblox’s Rights feature which lets you report property that was stolen. I haven’t actually used it thought, so I can’t really tell you if it’s effective or not.
They probably have more players because they mentioned “Squid Game” which might be the main reason. Try bringing a ton of attention so that more players are aware of your actual game. A thing you should’ve done (I don’t blame you) is to add watermark to the thumbnail and icon, which would make it less steal-able.

There can be people like that. The best way you could do it right now is bring a lot of attention about your game either being stolen from social media. This might reach the players that are playing the fake game

If your playerbase is smaller than the infringing content, DMCAs are the most effective if you can prove it’s your content.
If you’d rather not submit a takedown for whatever reason, it’s best to let it slip and advertise more. Don’t make drama posts (like TikToks) to point out they stole your thumbnails. That just puts them in the spotlight and is negative PR for you.
Rights Manager makes it much easier to submit DMCAs nowadays so that’s your best shot
I think you need to have a better proof that they stole your game and not the opposite because that game was technically created before yours. (Yes, it could be a premade place and just having it updated but still!)
I saw a sponsor for their game so that’s probably why they have a bigger player base. (also I was in your game with 2 people and it didn’t start)
If you have any previous place versions that shows you working on the game or just anything that shows you have been working on it, that can prove you are the orignal creator despite the creation date on the places; Would proceed with a DMCA takedown if you can provide that

You should probably reach out to the developer and tell him why did you steal my icons and thumbnails, if he says anything bad, you can use it against him to take down his game
