My game lacks that polish and magic

Hey guys,
This game has a simliar style to mine, but has waaaay more polish:

My game doesn’t quite hit the spot:

Can I have some specific answers on what’s missing?
“ItS bAd!!” doesn’t help me
Thanks,

Polishing means smoothing everything out basically, making everything look like it goes well together. Here are some things that could be smoothed out in the lobby

Z-fighting and studs going opposite ways

Again, studs going opposite ways and for some reason the map display is SmoothPlastic instead of studs.

It goes beyond builds too; it means making your UI feel responsive (and look clean), having good visuals, and much more. Polishing is a very broad term for very many things.

The lobby feels way too massive when it doesn’t need to be, and there’s really nothing to do in there if you’re a fresh player waiting for a game. The UI is pretty plain, I’d recommend adding some tweens and better sound effects alongside better design to make it feel more responsive. The colors are very very bright so a more toned down palette would do well.

Also, the weird FOV changes that come from energy would be better if the range was decreased, it’s a little nauseating with how much they change.

Overall those are just some things I saw when I joined. I didn’t get into a match so I wouldn’t know how that is. I’d assume the gameplay is fine just based off the demo.

Thanks dude! I’ll start work on that ASAP and post my progress by editing this. It’s funny how you think that the lobby is too big, but has nothing to do. (all the good stuff is on the 2nd floor) The game’s MaxServerSize is 100, and I have 80 reserved server slots, so that lobby gets pretty full. I’ve heard complaints about the FOV and will make it more subtle. (did it) I can fix those little things in the lobby. (Z-fight fixed) Personally I like that chill, desaturated vibe as much as you, and will decrease saturation. (Exposure decreased, brightness is better now) However ‘responsive’ and ‘clean’ for the UI is a bit broad, and I’m unsure how to improve my current UI. All I really know how to do is take feedback and work on it, as you can likely tell from the topic. (improved it) The only thing to do now is help the player get into the fun stuff of the lobby easily, how can I show them the way to the 2nd floor?

To improve the UI you could probably add some tweens that increase size when selected, I made some UI for a game I’m working on so you could base it off that if you want. Not to hard to add but makes the UI feel alot better.

@lor5s I finished the things you requested! Sorry to ping you, but could you have another look and find some more issues that I can deal with tomorrow?

It’s a lot better than it was, good job!
