My game UI Design feedback

I have been working on my game UI design, and this is one of my firsts UIs that i ever made, and i would like a feedback:

BEFORE DOING A CRITIQUE READ THIS:
-XP Bar is not fully made, you can give ideas for it and help me but critique it is unnecessary
-The coin you see at the left is a button that i will remove it later and replace with another.
-You can see that the UI is a bit empty, i will try to update this post frequently with the new UI.

Thanks for reading and i would like your opinion :+1:

I like the UI, but i do feel that the admin gui, could have some round corners.
Perhaps be a bit smaller, like the shop sign?

Ok, I will change that, I made it rushed cause I would be the only person who can see that

Let me do a quick review.

COIN BUTTON
The coin button is too dark in my opinion, it’s more of a bronze, try to lighten it up a little bit in photoshop or something. It’d look better golden rather than bronze.

Admin Tab
The Admin Tab button has a few things wrong with it, let me go over them:

  • The button colour, even thought this will only be shown to your game administrators, it is very distracting, the yellow is what I like to call an attention colour, you use them when you need to bring someones attention to something.
  • The text is too big for the box, it’s pressing right up at the border, there should be a little padding around the text.

XP Bar
I’m not sure what’s wrong with it, but it just “feels” weird if you know what I mean, try making the inner three lines a lighter colour instead of the black whilst leaving the outline colours black, also add XP at the end of the second number.

Credits Button
This is out of place with the other button, there is nothing around it, no box, no indication that it’s a button.

Yeah, I will change or remove the coin

Maybe I will be the only administrator for now, but I will change it.

I thought about when an admin or me is going to play on phone, if I size it more smaller will be hard to press but I will try to figure a way to edit it. And I’m sorry butbwhat is padding?

Well, there are 5 lines if you notice it better, but I will try to make a new level UI.

I’m sorry about that, since I didn’t found a button to identify as a credits button I left it like that, but I will change it

Thanks for your feedback

…?
I said leave the first line and the last line black, and the remaining three should be gray.

It’s decent, I don’t like the admin tab though, you should make it as all of the other UI’s are. You should also make the shop UI this way, without these changes these two UI’s look out of place.

With the 2 UIs what do you mean, please explain better, thanks

Please, if you are doing a critique first say what i must replace with the stuff you dont like, cause i dont know what you want, what do you mean “each other” cause i already said that the xp bar and the coin at the left are still being in progress, and how it could look as a scam obby? maybe it looks like but is not, i want a decent gui that can be understandable for the people, i want left only an image, for me sometimes is hard to understand whats that button until i click it, i want to people see the button with the text and the people understand instantly.

when you say “making the bigger” you mean with making the images bigger? if yes then im working on it, the problem is that if i make it bigger, will be hard to see the screen to play, since i will add other buttons later, but i will try to do what you want. :+1:

Okay, I think you have used Free Png’s from the Internet for your UI’s… UI’s look pretty simple. And you need to put detail into making better UI’s as the Simple Classic Box UI looks very dull and ugly. Try use Vectors with rounded edges. And try designing your own Icons.

Good luck in your Project! Spo_oky

I’m adding a rounded button detail into all the buttons, and the free pngs i just got them from toolbox, but i will change them, also one of my favorite games is using free assets from internet and the game is very famous so i dont think thats a very big problem. But in a future i will change the images to one that i will create

There is no problem in using Free png’s…Its recommended that you make your own so it looks better and Unique.

I find that making things smaller adds sophistication. Although I am not well versed in design, there are a couple things that stand out.

First of all, there is no inherent design here, it is just a few buttons put to the side. I don’t know how you’ve handled scaling, but if it isn’t done properly then the images will become warped. The coin symbol is out of place, and the XP bar is way too big for what it needs to be. I wouldn’t want so much stuff cluttering my screen, so maybe add a tab that can show these things to people, and an option to hide them.

To summarise -

Have everything follow a set formula, so every menu is in a place that is logical. The XP bar should be smaller so that it seems more sleek and less obtusive.

The admin tab, although not really required as its for admins, can be made smaller also.

One thing I can say is that rounded corners are your friend in UI to make things look nice macos for example, not windows.

For what I working on (although it is a different game), I found that I like this way quite a bit. But it probably isn’t relevant to your game’s genre.

Thanks for your suggestion, very appreciated!!!

I got free time and created like rounded buttons at the images:

IN THE MIDDLE YOU CAN SEE TEXTS, THOSE CAN BE REPLACED WITH "NEW!"
Limited text: That means the shop have a new limited time item
New Season: The new season gives unique items for a limited time
Free item: for special events.

Those texts are placed in that position to showcase it. Not the real position!

EDIT: The Admin Tab button was not edited at the time i published this, now i did, imagine that the button have a rounded image and it’s colors are like this: 166, 165, 120

Feedback

I think this is pretty good but there could be some improvements on the aesthetics, for example the shop text looks kind of plain and slightly off, it doesn’t really look like the text on the shop UI is in the centre.
On the spectate UI I would say that maybe you could change the colour a bit because it doesn’t really match with the sky.
On the playing UI I would say the same thing as I sad for the shop UI, the text could be moved slightly to the left and the character UI could be a bit more clear since you can barely even see the face of it, or maybe you could make it in a different angle.
On the money UI everything looks perfect except from the fact that you could make is slightly bigger.

Text

As I mentioned above in Feedback the text on the Playing and Shop UI could be moved slightly to the left so that it looks more as if it is in the centre, and also I would like to mention that the text look a bit plan, so I would advise you to try out different fonts and colours until you find some that match the setting more.

I will try to explain it a bit more in detail in the sections below.

On this UI, as I mentioned in Feedback, you could try to make the image more clear or try to make the character face a different angle, because you can barely see the face and it looks a bit blurry.

On this UI, you could change the color of it because black doesn’t really go with the sky blue background, I can recommend something like dark gray because I personally think that it would go a bit better with the background.
