I wanted to bring up an issue regarding my game’s genre being misclassified as “Social Hangout” by Roblox staff. The game was previously categorized as a Simulator, and this change was made without my knowledge.
This misclassification is problematic for several reasons:
- Incorrect Representation: My game is a simulator, focused on trading mechanics, player progression, and in-game economic systems. It is not a social-focused experience.
- Age Restriction Issue: The “Social Hangout” genre is often restricted to 13+ users, which severely limits the visibility and accessibility of the game. My target audience includes a wide range of players, including those under 13, who enjoy trading and simulator mechanics. This unintended restriction will negatively impact player engagement and the game’s growth.
- Harmful Impact on Discoverability: As the game is now incorrectly classified, it will be shown to an audience looking for social experiences, which is not the primary gameplay focus. This will result in lower player retention and could harm the game’s long-term success.
I believe that the “Simulator” genre is the correct fit for this game, and I am requesting feedback or advice from the community on how to address this issue. If anyone has faced a similar problem or has any suggestions on how to revert this genre change, I would greatly appreciate your input.
Contacting the Roblox Support doesn’t work as they only respond with an automatically generated response saying “once an experience is published it cannot be updated”, but how is that relevant?
If a Roblox Staff is reading this, please help me out, contact me requesting the game link, and simply change it to “Simulator”, thanks.
