My group Clever Wizard Entertainment was stolen in a high level acquisition scam involving 'Whale Pay' discord escrow and verified user @azuremammal92

I’m seeking help from the dev community on how to get ownership of the group back, and to know what resources there are, as well as to bring awareness to this high level acquisition scam.

Evidence: I have a screen recording of the entire deal taking place on Safe Seal discord, screenshots, crypto wallets and multiple users involved.

What happened: We were offered to sell our brand Clever Wizard Entertainment, and we liked the contract and saw the buyer is verified on Roblox. We’d be using an escrow service so we decided to take the deal, there are 3 parties in the deal:

The seller @CleverWizard2021
The buyer @azuremammal92
Escrow service: Safe Seal on discord
Edit: They changed their discord to Whale Pay, watch out!

The contract was for a crypto deal, meaning the transaction would be deposited in cryptocurrency to the escrow (the middleman) for holding, then once the buyer received the product (our group) the seller (us) would receive the funds from escrow.

Up until now we haven’t received payment and the buyer @azuremammal92 maintains ownership of the group through a holder account

This is the deposit transaction on the blockchain:

it’s got 0 confirmations as you can see, it’s fake. I investigated both wallets and no amount near or close to 150k in any form of crypto can be found in either wallet in confirmed OR unconfirmed.

Conclusion: The site Safe Seal is unsecure and @azuremammal92 is a fraud, who has since breached the contract we signed by not returning ownership to @CleverWizard2021

These are the same people found here:
https://devforum.roblox.com/t/scammer-group-running-rampant-among-new-developers/3174686?u=cleverwizard2021

We need Roblox moderators on this team ASAP, @azuremammal92 needs to be banned and I need Clever Wizard Entertainment back as soon as possible.

Since these alleged scams are taking place on third-party sites, Roblox is unable to verify the veracity of the allegations and is unlikely to be able to assist defrauded Creators.” Since the purchase was made off-platform, there’s nothing ROBLOX or anyone else can do about it.

Does it help that I:

  1. video recorded the entire process
  2. can give the crypto wallet addresses of each party that can be tracked on the blockchain

I didn’t receive the 150K amount specified in the contract, and anyone can prove on the blockchain it was never sent. There is a mountain of proof that this guy @azuremammal92 is a high level fraudulent scam artist preying on countless developers on Roblox, this shouldn’t continue I’m ready to share and get in calls with Roblox support and their moderation team.

The purchase was done off-platform, and it is against TOS. I honestly don’t think roblox will do anything.

It’s not against Roblox Terms of Service, it’s allowed. I checked before doing it

Was the purchase done with robux, if so I think you’ll have a chance otherwise there’s nothing roblox can do.

Roblox can ban @azuremammal92 for scamming and obtaining assets on Roblox via offsite fraudulent activity given enough evidence is provided to support the case. I have the contract we all signed, I have crypto wallet addresses, and I have discord’s tied to roblox accounts, I have footage of me literally granting ownership to @azuremammal92’s Roblox account. I have everything one would need to bury this guy.

can you give the contract for us to read

This is the entire contact, and we would like for a Roblox attorney to see this.

Would not ever consider accepting crypto payment.

As Roblox’s own announcement says - if you’re making deals this big, you want legal counsel to advise you on keeping this secure. Probably not just a contract, but something notarized. Bank-to-Bank transfers so you can verify the sender if anything goes wrong.

…and you absolutely shouldn’t be relying on a Discord-based escrow service. I never want to victim blame, but… really? A Discord-based escrow service?

In terms of your next steps - hire an attorney. There is enough information to go after these people (at the very least by getting their information from Discord and Roblox, as I’d assume the addresses they provided are fake - possible through a subpoena), but you will need an actual lawyer to make it happen.

There is little Roblox can do. They are not a party to your transaction. You must retain your own attorney and follow their advice on next steps.

I would like for people who work at Roblox to see this post. If we can get in contact with someone who works at Roblox, I’d like to know about how to proceed with this.

You always see stories of pedophiles on Roblox grooming underage kids on discord and their main accounts getting banned. At the very least, I’d like to see @azuremammal92 banned from the platform, along with returned ownership of Clever Wizard Entertainment to my account, CleverWizard2021.

"Well written contracts often place legal fees on the party that is in breach. Contracts rarely make it to “trial”, most parties in breach of contract settle before legal proceedings take place. But most of those that do proceed past this point, are presented before a single judge who makes a bench decision as to if the terms are in fact in violation, and reafirms the contents of the contract, forcing the party in breach to fulfill their obligations.

In our case, it is possible that Roblox itself can act as a form of arbitor, removing contract violating content." – I found this in this post: Legal-ease: A beginners guide to contracts - Resources / Community Resources - Developer Forum | Roblox. As long as you have enough evidence and a signed contract, there’s a good chance you could recover your group without needing to go to court.

For everyone who keeps repeating the Roblox TOS: We’ve already read it. Does that really change the fact that these people are clearly behind this and need to be banned? It sounds like everyone wants to let the scammers go free at this point.

By the way, I’ve known these people were scammers for around 3 months now, and I’m pretty sure that Andrew (SafeSeal) is just one of their alt accounts. They were just constantly being racist and saying horrible stuff/sending horrible images.

Andrew is the Founder of Safe Seal.

I can vouch that this post is true, I have also been a victim to the same scammer. They ran through a very similar script as they did here, operating as a game purchasing group and leveraging a high value Roblox account as well as other groups they have acquired through this scam to build their credibility.

Game I lost to this scam: Horse Plinko Tycoon 🐎🎲 - Roblox

Roblox’s lack of support for these kinds of situations is very devastating. By my estimates, this scammer has made several hundred thousand to a few million Robux off this scam from compromised groups. Roblox seems to currently not have any way to handle these kinds of situations which allows awful situations like this to happen, resulting in several games which supported many small developers to be compromised. It’s even worse seeing him get verified, when he scammed me his account was not verified at the time and seeing him gain that status is horrible to see.

There are very few resources on how to handle these kinds of situations as a developer. The most support Roblox provides from this is along the lines of “sorry, we can’t fix this, shouldn’t have gotten scammed :/” which is very frustrating. Previously my game was a major source of income for me and to loose it like this with no support from Roblox on being able to recover from this is just awful. I have tried contacting Roblox’s support through the support form, but since the communications happen over Discord they say they can’t do anything about it.

You should report this person to their nation’s law enforcement. They won’t get you your game back, because that’s a civil matter, but they can certainly prosecute them.

To get your game back you’d probably need to revindicate, through a civil court. As it seems to me, you’re the owner, and a third party has taken unlawful possession of your property. Ownership is the most encompassing right, and allows you to revindicate your property. Since the other party failed to perform, there was no agreement, and thus ownership never transferred. The only thing that transferred was the immediate possession; you used to be owner & holder, now you are owner not holder.

In any case, you should certainly take this as a lesson

Roblox has already announced that there is little they can do when a user is scammed in an off-platform transaction. They will likely not do anything in this case.

The only viable course of action is for you to hire an attorney and follow their advice. This is not a dispute between you and Roblox, it is a dispute between you and the other party in your agreement.

I do not understand your resistance to this. You are out over $100,000 dollars. You need a lawyer.

Yes, we’d likely have our attorney try to contact Roblox attorneys to explore our options on if we can get ownership restored on Roblox as the asset stolen is on Roblox and the buyer is using a verified Roblox account to obtain assets on Roblox through offsite fraud.
