I’ve spent about 20 hours coding a realistic highway generator. It doesn’t look very fancy by itself, but it’s completely generated and fairly seamless. The roads also curve, so you’re not going straight the entire time
Capabilities:
• Can support as many lanes as you want.
• The center grass median can be as large as you want.
• Fairly customizable. The grass can be set at higher or lower degrees without a problem, the road width can be increased with the change of a value,
• The roads can be as long as you want, the only limit is lag or file size.
• Entirely automated. Just run script and wait 2 seconds.
Features that I’m going to add:
• Variety. The center median will vary, realistically, between concrete blocks, mesh fences, metal rails, highway walls, and tree barriers.
• Realistic details. Roads will vary in age. The older the road, the darker the oil shadow is, and lighter the road is. The grass will also vary, sometimes grass is dead-ish, or light colored.
You should generate a highway going to -500 (assuming the PartDestroyHeight property is at -500; I forgot its name) and then call it “the highway to hell”.
This makes me want to redo my clunky old plugin. I keep telling myself I’ll get around to doing it but I haven’t ever had the motivation since I hand-build everything anyway.
Looks pretty good though, the ramps look incredibly smooth. I can’t tell if you’ve implemented this or not, but generating hills in the roads goes a long way.
Minor nitpick, the dashed lines should most likely yellow, unless you’re from a country that uses yellow dashed lines or something.
I’ll work on the decals in a bit, trying to give consistency to the lanes. Atm they can open from 200 to 2000 studs, and it looks ridiculous to have a lane opening over that much space.
I am trying to make the road vary in height a bit, haven’t implemented curves though.
Pls extend the length of the main highway though pls.
