Did the posing using the classic Roblox Animation Editor and then duping the parts from the model. I then “rendered” it using FutureIsBright, and then taking the image I screencapped and fiddling around with some effects and transparent images in PaintDOTNet.
In my opinion, I think I did a pretty good job for my first thumbnail that I took a bit of time on.
I like the feel to it, however as previously mentioned it is a bit difficult to tell what is going on, with different components sort of seemingly just thrown in together.
I’m not sure exactly how you’d fix that, however it’d definitely improve the quality.
This looks really good and probably took some time to make! Just as @byc14 and @Veov_Ekdosi said though, it is very difficult to tell what is happening.
Here’s some things that may help:
Colour choice:
The colours blend too much with the foreground and background, therefore drawing the attention away from the main character. Especially the wall colour and the character.
Use of special effects (blurs, sparks, fog):
When using blurs, try not to overuse them too much as it can start to decrease the quality of the artwork. It looks as though everything is blurred in the picture except for the character at the front, sparks and title. I get that you may have placed blurs in the background in attempt to make the character stand out more, but it just added a whole lot more of confusion, especially with the colours already blending too much.
The fog and sparks look a bit random and I feel as they don’t really belong in the artwork. The sparks also stand out more as they have more of a glow to them and look high quality compared to the rest of the artwork.
Taking a deeper look at the artwork:
Only after several minutes of looking at the artwork, it is only then that I spot that there’s another character near the glowing white light and possibly one even further back as well as the flag on the back of the main character. Again, all of this was hard to determine due to the overuse of blur.
Brightness and contrast:
The overall artwork feels a bit dark, especially in the foreground. Adding brightness can help add even further depth and quality to the artwork. By adding brightness to the foreground, it can make it pop more and stand out, catching the viewer’s eye easier. This can all be done by the use of lighting or just simply tweaking the brightness/contrast in an image editor program.
Of course, this is all just my own opinion. You did a really amazing job though and I’m really impressed overall! Keep it up! I’d definitely like to see more from you in the future! I hope some of these points helped somehow.
Since this was my first thumbnail I wanted to look good, I might’ve just slightly, overused the motion blur thing and while trying to make it look cooler, and make the main character pop out more, I pulled away the viewer from what was supposed to be going on - which is, the main character, who has captured blue team’s flag, is now being chased by said team. The smoke and blur was supposed to show a really fast character, since this is an arena shooter afterall. The sparks were supposed to be the main character being shot at by blue team, in an attempt to stop him.
I really do appreciate the feedback, guys!
I might redo this one with the feedback I’ve recieved (I still have the PDN file luckily.)
