The name might sound a bit weird, and I’m probably gonna change it, but anyways, here is my new game! I’ve been working on it for around 1-2 months. I hope you like it!
The game is similar to the popular game Islands, but it’s different. Here’s a few tips:
[E] opens your inventory.
Click and hold to use a pickaxe.
Use your pickaxe to mine stuff, make it to the Main Island portal, harvest crops, build a huge structure, do anything you want!
There is a Feedback button on the left side of the screen so please let me know what you think.
The save code sometimes fails but is pretty trustworthy
Is it intentional that I cannot open up my inventory via the inventory UI button?
Also, don’t wanna be overly negative, but isn’t this just a worse version of Islands 🌌 [NEW VOID ITEMS!] - Roblox?
It’s the exact concept as a game with 1.6B+ visits that has been on the front page since its release 2 years ago. You may have worked hard in the 2 month, that I will not try to negate, but objectively your game has less content than Islands.
you know what, I’m taking down this post. I’ll just continue playing this game with my friend only, and stop making games from now on if people will be like this.
His feedback was that it reminded him of another game. He wasn’t discrediting your works and efforts. In your post you listed that it is very similar to islands, what he was saying is it’s just not quite the quality a team of developers has created.
I wasn’t even trying to be rude at first(I hadn’t even seen the part of your post where you mentioned Islands). If you don’t wanna be called a worse version of Islands, make it better. Throwing a tantrum whenever someone compares the near-identitical games doesn’t help, it just makes it seem like you’re incapable of being told anything that isn’t blind yesman-level positive reinforcement. The entire point of my second post was to say why it’s objectively, in terms of general quality and amount of content, worse.
I hope you can wake up tomorrow, read everything over again, then realize I’m not some evil boogeyman out to ruin your dreams. I’m just a dude stating that you need to work harder to differentiate your game from its incredibly similar, more well-known competitor.
Hey, nice game. For mining, if you spam mine then hold it the mining stacks. Also maybe change the mining effects when you mine a lot it just piles up.
Inventory UI is very confusing, you press an item but it doesn’t appear, but then when you press a current item you are holding, it appears? What.
Other Similar Bugs
Gameplay Issues
When mining, the rubble spawned can block the mouse from mining the block underneath.
Very confusing on what you’re supposed to do (no tutorial, no explanation, no crafting table or anything).
Leveling up seems to skip some levels (I only got a level up notif after 3 levels).
Placing System is sorta buggy, you can place on corners (annoying most of the time).
I cannot go back to my island after going to the hub. (cannot go through portal, you must speak to the traveller, which is not explained)
Other Issues
As others have mentioned above, this is very similar to the roblox Islands game. To the point where it looks like a clone rather than being an inspired piece of work.
In general. This game is a pretty okay game, it has it’s flaws and definitely can be seen as a clone of Islands. If you worked on fixing some of these while altering the game style to differentiate from Islands, it could have some potential.
Some Advice
After reading the posts above, I have some advice for you. First of all, yes, TomskiKiller may have been rude in some people’s eyes (although he did specify he wasn’t being overly negative, he did use some negative keywords such as “worse”). However, you were also childish in your further replies with said user. Saying phrases such as “Frick you” and shutting down your game due to one person does not seem appropiate. You asked for feedback, and you got feedback. You cannot pick and choose whether the feedback you asked for would be positive or negative. To be a proper game developer, you must have drive, you must have power , and you must enjoy making games. You seem to enjoy making games on the platform, so good for you! On the other hand, you should be prepared to work on hundreds of different projects for months, even years. In your time of game developing, you will receive many negative comments about your game, no matter how perfect it is or how long you work on it. You will soon understand that this is just how it is for content creators, no matter it be streamers, video creators, game developers, or anything. You’re just gonna have to learn to face the negative critiscm and learn from it. So, next time you see one, I suggest you take their critiscm in mind, and work on updating the game to fix that.
