Here’s a cool creation I made, took several months to make, start to finish(I was taking a lot of breaks, lol). I tried making this as accurate as I possibly could compared to the original. Yes, I have daytime mode and $20 mode. I am still actively working on this, fixing any bugs and issues that come up.
(Roblox has recently released grass with terrain, so as soon as that becomes fully out and not studio only, I will implement that.)
Wow, that was probably the first time I ever got legitimately jumpscared on Roblox. This is great! I do have to say though, the entire time I played I never saw a single paper. While I am not sure if this is a glitch or not, I would at the very least make it slightly easier to find them if it is possible already. Great game, and keep up the good work!
fun, but at the same time, kind of boring too. i found one paper, but couldn’t seem to pick it up, didn’t see any sort of monster, so i was just walking around a lot
As far as a recreation of the original Slender: The Eight Pages goes, this is a well-made game, there are just a few technical bugs and gameplay aspects that I’d like to point out. I did in fact play the original game so I can tell which design decisions were faithful to it, but maybe could be improved upon:
The only page I could find was on the gas tank, and I wasn’t able to pick it up, either.
The sprint speed isn’t terribly faster than the walk speed, which is also pretty sluggish.
Slenderman’s texture is missing, the console throws a missing asset error.
There’s no way to gauge sprint stamina.
Not having a map makes it difficult to tell where the player is, making exploration more frustrating than it needs to be, at some points I couldn’t find the trail and wandered aimlessly.
The “Controls: -you should already know this” in the description is a bit unfriendly.
EDIT: An extra word of advice, be careful about how you plan to implement $20 mode. It had to be removed from the original game for to-be expected copyright issues.
The map was as close to the actual as I could make it, plus, it’s pretty big so I imagine finding all 8 pages for some would be difficult. They are there! I’ve beaten it, you just aren’t looking in the right places.
Like your feedback, will increase sprint speed a little, and fix the missing texture. Do keep in mind, if the original doesn’t have something, I don’t want to add it here because I want to make it as close to the orig as possible, this was my goal when creating this project
What a blast from the past! I got to 6 pages, except I made the mistake of not going to the building first (I only vaguely remember the map’s layout, so it took me forever to find it), so I got cornered in when I did find it. So close to beating it on the first try though!
I would say the flashlight looks a bit odd with the hard cutoff to darkness, and I’m not sure if it fades out over time like in the original game, but I was toggling it on and off to conserve it anyways.
I would recommend adding badges as well for each page.
