My thoughts on every game from the 2025 Inspire Challenge

This is my big list. I’ve decided this year is the year I play everything, but I don’t have a lot of time so I will be quickly jumping between games. So impressed with everything everyone made, thank you all for your hard work. I did like every game I played btw, because lots of games have unwarranted dislikes. Some people on the list get a thumbs up (:+1:) for games that I really enjoyed and can go places, and truly awesome games get a star (:star:). Anything that you should probably just play on your own because it’s enjoyable, I’ll put a smile (:slightly_smiling_face:).

First impressions before playing: I really like the title. It’s smart to do a play on the theme.

Gameplay: It’s a zombie game where you use a tool to summon players. Interesting idea, I did not make it too far but the combat was not super engaging. With work this could be great.

First impressions before playing: Description says fun in the sun, lets see what this is about.

Gameplay: Crunchy 8 bit music, very chill. It’s a game where you play around with Roblox building tools. It would have been cool to see the game start to rebel against you or tell a story or something though because it’s just a playground.

First impressions before playing: Cool logo, I am intrigued because it was inspired by Arsenal and Jak and Daxter.

Gameplay: This is pretty cool. You have a baton and you can switch between gun mode and melee mode to take out enemies. You run to different rooms like doors/doors clones and I really enjoyed the concept. Needs some polish, ie atmospherics and a better solution than faceplanting against the doors to open them, but you sir, get a smile. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: Default roblox thumbnail? All the best games hide behind these. Cryptic description.

Gameplay: That music HITS you… And this game rocks. You play as a cube that can deflect lasers to hit targets. (Like portal, but I get to be companion cube… :smiling_face_with_horns:) Takes a little playing around with to get the lasers where they need to go, but once you go into first person its easier. Also the level completed animations take too long. But this game definitely deserves a smile. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: Gotta love it when a title tells you exactly what you need to know.

Gameplay: Potential here, it’s a really good obby. You use build tools to get across the gap, but you only have so much resources. Using the scroll wheel to adjust build distance is a godsend, why don’t more tycoon games have that? Nice music too. Smile. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: Straightforward. Let’s get playing.

Gameplay: Similar to the last game, but you use build tools to climb a tower. I like the intuitive placement of blocks, they are perfect jumping distance.

First impressions before playing: Dig that logo.

Gameplay: I recognize that music… Cool idea, you travel to different classic roblox games and use a camera tool to play minigames.

First impressions before playing: ooOoh hand drawn thumbnails…

Gameplay: I actually laughed. I actually laughed so hard at the intro. (SPOILER: You are in a room of scientists and they are experimenting on you and seeing what will happen when you eat a purple gummy. The second you click, the room EXPLODES away from you and turns into a really trippy psychedelic obby. Turns out drugs are the real “one tool with many uses.”) Fun concept, just because I laughed: :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: Reminds me of some past game jam games.

Gameplay: You are a magician who uses his spellbook to overcome obstacles. Cool art style and the animator on this did a REALLY good job.

First impressions before playing: Dig that title. Super fun and goofy.

Gameplay: You run a food truck with a multitool. Made me giggle seeing my friend list walk up to get their order taken (especially because one of them would eat the food he ordered…). I dig it.

First impressions before playing: 13 in 1 shampoo. Why didn’t I think of that?

Gameplay: It’s one of those “multiple endings” story games, with lots of funny endings. I think a lot of people will vote for this.

First impressions before playing: “All these puzzles are possible, seriously I don’t need anyone complaining…” lol

Gameplay: You use goggles to see invisible parts you can jump on. Reminds me of a past game jam winner that had a similar idea. One of the first NPCs you talk to says “I’m giving you a helpful tip, I hope you vote for me in the helpful tips contest.” I got the reference

First impressions before playing: This thumbnail what the heck…

Gameplay: I dig this game: You are just a menace to society throwing bricks. Your brick can do everything, hurt people (“HEY MAN WHY’D YOU THROW THAT BRICK AT ME WHY DON’T YOU FIND SOME BREAKABLE OBJECT LIKE GLASS TO THROW THAT AT INSTEAD OF ME MAN”), break glass, wreak paintings, even object you thought weren’t interactable will interact with the brick… The characters are HILARIOUS… the brickler, the geeky assistant, the random civilians, just the things random signs will say are FUNNY. Thumbs up.:+1: (please dont take this game down after the challenge I want to show it to my friends)

First impressions before playing: This could be very funny.

Gameplay: It’s not that funny, which I think is a missed opportunity (the music is actually pretty relaxing), but it’s a very cool game. While driving a tractor, you have to make repairs on it. I wish there was a breaking down animation, but there is lots of potential here. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: Looks kinda cool, I wonder how well built this game is.

Gameplay: Holy cow, whoever lit this game, it is PERFECT and BEAUTIFUL, so many times I see spaceship/core games with CRAP lighting, where the red alarm lighting is just way to strong, however this game manages to have a very reflective METAL spaceship interior with red and blue lights that DO NOT clash. I’m gonna drop a really hot take, the largest game on roblox with a similar building style, Pressure, wishes it had the lighting this game does. Pressure is way too dark. That’s the other thing, you are on a dark spaceship, but there are NEVER visibility issues. Everything is the perfect light level, it’s a good in-between of “this light barely even glows” and “this light washes out the environment"

This game:

Pressure:

Alright now besides that rant about lighting, it’s a very cool game where you use the battery of the spaceship as multiple tools like a light or a gun. The opening cutscene is a little rough (but funny) and the sounds are a little annoying. Smile just for lighting. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: This thumbnail looks legit, when I was scrolling through earlier I got excited about his one.

Gameplay: It’s cool, you have a bunch of computer circuitry attached to your arm (very well modeled) and you can use it to hack things and drag objects and locate your stolen computer chip. It’s not super intuitive, but it’s a great atmosphere. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: I think I’m going to love the art style that thumbnail looks legit.

Gameplay: Live CheezBoy reaction: “oh thats a cool loading screen I like the music… HOLY COW IT’S A BLACK AND WHITE NOIR GAME!” I like the “Roblox 2025 Gamejam” clues on the menu screen… It’s got a comic book intro (but that’s a listening radio not a communication radio) and a SUPER COOL sidescrolling platformer gun game. The music is perfect. This is a full game. This is going to get a cult following. It truly makes me wonder if it was made in 3 days though. If it was, I mean you get a star buddy, :star:. I am definitely going to play with this art style in my own stuff.

First impressions before playing: Interesting title, lets see what we got here.

Gameplay: This is a cool demo game where you mess around with tools as a hunter, healer, or poet. Excited to see the upcoming changes.

First impressions before playing: This could be a cute and fun camping game.

Gameplay: This game has great atmospherics (love the mountain). The gameplay is pretty cool, you can put stuff in your backpack and then wear it and explore.

First impressions before playing: Okay cool hand drawn thumbnail.

Gameplay: Oh this rocks! I remember a game like this in a past jam, it’s an isometric game with some hand drawn elements. You play as a cat with a candle on his head, and you can burn flammable objects to solve puzzles. Awesome work on the artstyle, again, a game I wonder if it was made in 3 days, but this one definitely deserves a star if it was: :star:

First impressions before playing: Nice blender thumbnail, we didn’t see as much of those this jam. (Also lol “ONE” by “FIVE development”)

Gameplay: Very well made. You use a grappling hook that can shoot to defeat enemies. I like the artstyle, its smooth without being glossy. Definitely the potential for a very fun full game here.

First impressions before playing: But what if I want a rocket launcher? /j It’s a very cool thumbnail. And original music? Awesome.

Gameplay: Alright this game RULES! You actually do have a rocket launcher (but it can’t shoot ) and you can pick up upgrades to do other things, like stack tools, or float down with an umbrella. These upgrades also run out, which is a nice touch. Very well made. VERY well made. Good animations too. You get a smile. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: Yay dinosaurs! I’m intrigued by this because it looks like we are gonna be breaking into the natural history museum.

Gameplay: This game is awesome. You break in with only rope, and you can use it to climb and tie up guards. Definitely deserves a thumbs up, and I would seriously play this outside of the game jam because it scratches an itch that not even jailbreak can scratch anymore. Please keep working on this game after the jam. :+1:

First impressions before playing: A multi-tool game… okay I’m listening.

Gameplay: It’s got some nice animation and crunchy music, and a very cool pixely art style. This multitool helps you defeat corrupt miners, you can punch, you have a bow, etc. This game had better combat than a lot of the other multitool games.

First impressions before playing: Hmm… sounds familiar… (I definitely didn’t watch markiplier play please DON’T press the button)

Gameplay: Some silly shenanigans happen when you press the button. Very fun.

First impressions before playing: Reminds me of some other games we’ve seen so far, this could be good…

Gameplay: In this game, the cube is a tool that can show and hide obby parts in the environment, and you can use it for combat. The cube takes you to a strange dimension full of obstacles.

First impressions before playing: Yay, someone made a game with a take on the classic Roblox coils!

Gameplay: Very well put together. It’s a simple game loop, you use coils to get around obstacles, but it’s very cleanly put together (bug free!) and even though it’s simplistic, it’s not amateur.

First impressions before playing: I watched the animator livestream of this and I’m all the more curious what it is…

Gameplay: This is a great game. You play as a robot and I guess the gimmick here is you both have multiple tools, but you are a tool for your company. You fight zombies, activate generators, (because of course there are generators) and get upgrades. The only thing I disliked is there wasn’t much enemy variety and just an unnecessarily large amount of zombies. If I was weaker and there was more it could have been more fun (also this is really nit-picky but I wish there was strafing animations.) Regardless, definitely deserves a thumbs up: :+1:

First impressions before playing: I’m interested in what the four diverse uses of the classic tools are.

Gameplay: You get the classic tools, like the sword, and try to climb a mountain. There are hidden uses of the tool like flight and the apple sword. Pretty fun to find new uses.

First impressions before playing: Comic sans on a thumbnail? I got mad respect.

Gameplay: This is pretty funny. You play as Detective Hummer, but it should be called Detective Hammer because you do nothing mystery related and just smash stuff with a hammer. Once you’ve smashed enough stuff, you can move one. This could be pretty funny as a game where people request your help and instead of helping them you smash all the clues.

First impressions before playing: No description or anything. Good thing the title had me curious. This was made by “game game game jam” so clearly we’ve got an experienced veteran here.

Gameplay: This is pretty neat. It’s a well made movement shooter where your tool is a fishing rod that can grapple, punch, ground pound, and more. It’s well designed and coded, it doesn’t feel like glitchy or buggy movement at all. With work this is a very solid movement shooter, and the only real issue right now is it can be hard to tell where you are going. I think this game might fly under the radar for a lot of people, so check it out. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: Dude the raccoon thumbnail with the eviction notice had me… And I get to parkour on cars?!

Gameplay: Alright this game rules. You start out playing cards with a raccoon and a guy bursts in because you got evicted. You then jump out the window and the game becomes an infinite runner where you use cards to jump and dash and whatnot. I love how this game can use cards without them feeling like they were shoehorned in. Definitely deserves a like because it is silly but a very real game: :+1:

First impressions before playing: Good thing I listen to prog.

Gameplay: This has a very unique artstyle. You use your guitar to defeat note shaped enemies. It was cool that I could play the guitar as a weapon.

First impressions before playing: This map looks really cool in the thumbnails. I’m invested.

Gameplay: This game is really cool. You start off on a loading screen that looks like a shipping order card (nice touch). When you start the game, your character and a container with a battery wash up on the shore of an empty island (Madagascar vibes from this part). You can use the battery to solve puzzles by plugging the cable into things and dragging them. This game has an awesome map and is super atmospheric. Thumbs up. :+1:

First impressions before playing: I wanna paint the void!

Gameplay: So far the only game that used the same tool I did. You have a paintbrush and you can paint platforms, jump pads, and other things on to the environment to locate a time machine. Like the anti-rthro humor in this.

First impressions before playing: This was set as private but I guess that got fixed.

Gameplay: This game has some cool atmospherics… You land in a spaceship and explore the world. Be careful of zombies that like to camp near the ship.

First impressions before playing: Okay this art style in the thumbnails looks AWESOME.

Gameplay: I laughed out loud when they said the enemies name was “Julius Scissar.” You play as paperman, and you get the ability to turn into other origami objects like a plane and a dinosaur. What more can I say, this game rules, thumbs up. :+1:

First impressions before playing: We had a lot of submissions with cubes this year.

Gameplay: This is a fun game, you pick up a cube (it was funny the screen was shaking and vibrating just for it to do a little “pop” into my inventory) and you can use the cube to teleport and shoot enemies. Well made game, got some portal vibes.

First impressions before playing: I thought more people would go for the wrench (or hammer) as kind of the “all encompassing handymans tool” but we haven’t gotten a lot.

Gameplay: This is a really cool combat game. You can attack, build walls and jumppads, and dash. Very clean atmosphere with awesome music and bug free. This game might fly under the radar of some so check it out. :slightly_smiling_face:

https://www.roblox.com/games/129118912228998/Operation-Clogged-Liberty

First impressions before playing: This game looks very nice in the thumbnails. I’m cautiously excited.

Gameplay: Alright. This game rules. It’s a military infiltration game but your tool is a plunger. (Get it… clogged liberty?) Awesome animations, atmosphere, cinematics, it even has some 2D animation. Well coded and bug free. Makes me wonder if it was made in 3 days, but the theme is very present so that couldn’t have been shoehorned in. (The voice actor makes me giggle a bit with how serious he sounds…) Thumbs up. :+1:

First impressions before playing: Yay a core game!

Gameplay: This game is really cool. You have an armlet that can hack into things, destroy robots and break glass. The transition effect when using the armlet is really well done. This one might fly under the radar so check it out. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: Clever idea. Universal remote mayhem has the potential to be very funny.

Gameplay: Pretty cool. You infiltrate a facility using your universal remote to tamper with electronics. Perfect implementation of the theme, well made. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: Looks legit. I like the dragger axis on the tool.

Gameplay: Well its a long cutscene but besides that it’s an awesome game. The multitool is very intuitive and of course it has that portal first level with the cube and button. Good work. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: This is a great trailer and I think it deserves to win for that. The world also looks very well made.

Gameplay: Finally! Banjo: Nuts & Bolts on Roblox! Seriously, an awesome vehicle builder with lots of polish. Well built, well coded, it rules. I love how the orange rides on your head. :+1:

First impressions before playing: Dark thumbnail and a long description. This should be good.

Gameplay: Wow. Dope atmospherics and a really cool chase system (But it would be cooler with a jumpscare…). It’s a multi-tool game, but with the story and mechanics implemented its a cut above the rest. :+1:

First impressions before playing: Sounds like fun. Finally we get some wrench love.

Gameplay: You have a wrench with lots of goofy, fun uses. More fun than a barrel of monkeys. Love the derpy music.

First impressions before playing: This looks… Epic?

Gameplay: Now what I like about this game, the multitool actually looks like a real pocket knife multitool. Lots of fun and funny puzzles and challenges to solve in this game.

First impressions before playing: I’m digging this graphic design on the thumbnail.

Gameplay: It’s pretty obvious they were going for Global Citizenship Award, and let me just say, well deserved. I will be disappointed if this game doesn’t win that. I wasn’t sure what to think at first, but this game really resonated with me. You visit different countries, talk to people through emojis, and earn hearts by solving challenges with your umbrella. On my first playthrough I only got 6 hearts, so there is plenty to see in this game. Even the large blocks with the rock texture in Switzerland make you immediately think of the alps. On the surface it looks simple, but there is a lot to this game. I have no idea why but I just love it. Great job sir. :+1:

First impressions before playing: The first game that specifically advertised itself as horror.

Gameplay: Pretty neat, you switch between your sword and an orb with some interesting combat mechanics. Wish that light was a tad brighter but a fun game nonetheless.

First impressions before playing: Metal bar sound effect does come in multiple languages… Perhaps this will win the Global Citizenship Award…

Gameplay: Another game with cubes and multitools and portal levels… But the graphical style of this one makes it better than the rest. The grapple ability is also really enjoyable and better implemented than most games. Good work art department. :slightly_smiling_face:

First impressions before playing: “rushed but lowk fun”

Gameplay: “rushed but lowk fun”

https://www.roblox.com/games/92774023001755/Trowel-Adventures-GAME-JAM

First impressions before playing: Okay this could be dope, I’m digging the thumbnails.

Gameplay: Your tool is a trowel and you can build and throw bricks. It is very fun to surmount obstacles and the game looks cleaner than other games of its type.

https://www.roblox.com/games/104948081594100/Snap-Link

First impressions before playing: Sounds like a velcro competitor!

Gameplay: Of all the scientific tech-testing games, this has one of the better color palettes. It’s a fun obby (that has more difficult paths available) with brick placement. Classic.

https://www.roblox.com/games/107243517260577/Mallet-Manic#!/about
First impressions before playing: Glad I caught this one!
Gameplay: This game rocks! You get a mallet and use it to smash walls and move crates. The art style is fantastic, the levels look like a scientific lab but not anything like we have seen. The game is intuitive and fun: :slightly_smiling_face:

I forgot I want people to play my game too, so here it is and of course it deserves 10 stars:
