Hey there, I’m HenryBenry and my friend @JackBloxx0 and I have spent the last year working on a game that is heavily inspired by Piggy and Doors, and also a game where there are monsters trying to hunt you down and kill you with Rulers…
The best way to describe the game as a game with Piggy styled puzzles and gameplay similar to Doors, with different boss fights and encounters. The game contains many different features, with my favorites being the player-killer system that allows for players in the server to be the killer each round, and the “advanced” AI system that has a lot of features and is bound to scare the life out players. (My friends and I have had a lot of fun with the AI)
Concepts of the game originate all the way back into early-quarantine days in 2020. The 2020-2021 versions of Ruler are the versions where I learned Luau and just became a better developer in general, but I eventually stopped working on the project all together as the code became too messy for me to handle.
In July of 2023 I decided to pick up the project back up and rework it from the ground up along with @JackBloxx0 since we both really wanted to revive this project that we never ended up finishing. Ever since then we’ve been working on the game consistently, with the game containing many advanced mechanics, as well as a bunch of content for users to enjoy, even with just one planned chapter on release for the game!
The game is still heavily work in progress, but we hope to release the game sometime this year, preferably somewhere around the summer.
UPDATE: Development of the game has been going super smoothly. I have once again fallen into the cycle of just constantly remaking things from scratch for whatever reason, and although it has made the game significantly better (player-killer system rewrite, bot/AI + pathfinding rewrite, and like three million other things) it has come at the cost of eating away at my time and delaying the release of the game even further. sorry im trying my best
anyways im also working on a yt video that will show the development history of the game in a lot more depth than this post, ill link the video once its out on yt
Anyways here are some screenshots & teasers of the game! (gameplay videos soon )
Anyways I’m really looking forward to releasing this project to the public! It’s one of my dream games and I don’t wanna keep this game waiting for its release any longer.
It depends on the mode that the players in the server vote for. Bot is pretty simple, as the killers in the round and map are all bots and use an AI, but for Player mode when a random player is selected, when a bossfight is started, the player killer will become the boss, alongside different effects and features for the killer to use in the bossfight. Once the bossfight ends though, the player killer will respawn into its original state and place.
Its a pretty fun system, as my friends and I have a lot of fun playing around with it and also learning the mechanics of each killer in each bossfight.
i forgot that I made this post lol
anyways here are two mysterious sneak peaks that I uploaded in the games discord server
as for the game progress everything is going pretty well, progress has been steady and the game will hopefully be done soon
thanks
the amount of work thats been poured into this project is crazy and it would be a big shame if ts game flopped (probably will bc the algo likes slop games more than actual games with effort)
im hoping that the planned devlogs i have for the game are good enough to grow the games audience.
i have pretty good experience in video editing and i would love to make some fun videos about my game and all the work that goes behind the scenes
I stumbled across this post from your argument on the other post but holy!
This looks very well made, from the builds to the UI to the FX and the overall design. I really hope it travels to as many people as possible
thank you!
i hope to get a good amount of work done this summer so i can make some cool sneak peaks and potentially a trailer for everyone to see!
this game has many mechanics that ive spent hours if not days on and i would love for everyone to finally be able to try them out
