Need advice for explosion crater and how to make it more realistic

I am currently working on a personal project, I am making a wand that will shoot fireballs and upon impact the fireballs will explode and form a crater.
Here is a video:

I notice some of the craters are long, this is fine because it is kind of realistic for projectiles to make longer craters when traveling near parallel to a surface, however I am unsure of how to make the explosion look realistic. Should I stretch the explosion, make a part for the explosion, make VFX on blender, ect…?

You must make it bigger and launch more parts in the air, it makes it more realistic

I like the idea of launching parts into the air, I may try to do that

Another things is try making it faster, it is rather strange it’s slow but still makes a crwater

Good point, going for more of a cartoony effect though so players can easily dodge projectiles

If the explosive is moving slowly, maybe have the explosion be a bit slower as well

You should make the fireball go way faster, and make the crater form a round circle on whatever it hits. Also, make it leave a black burn spot on the area for a few seconds. Overall, this looks good though!

I think you could still make it a bit faster, like 5 studs/s, or would make way more sense
