I don’t like the buttons and currency at the upper right corner, but I’ve got no ideas on how to make it look better.
I definitely want to keep the timer at the center top, as it is one of the main things in the game, and also I don’t want to make UI huge, so that it doesn’t interfere with the game.
To get a reference of what other gui looks like, here are some examples. I’m not really looking to change these, they are more or less good looking. Just need to change the buttons and currency on the upper right.
I’m pretty sure this goes in #help-and-feedback:creations-feedback . I did the same mistake once. The Art Design Support is for like UI Questions or something like that.
Besides that tho, I recommend you make Frames located where the current buttons on the top right corner are, and then add the ImageButtons and TextLabels on top. Mainly, the problem I see is that it’s too crowded.
To be more clear and specific, make Frames at the position the top right corner ui’s are, and then add the ImageButtons and TextLabels inside the Frame, make their Background Transparency 1, and make them smaller, which makes it so the Images and Text aren’t so crowded (by that, I mean that they aren’t close to the outside of the UI).
I really hope I helped! If you still aren’t satisfied with the result, tell me and show me the ui after you applied changes, and I’ll try to help again. If you didn’t understand what I meant in the very text above, I can show you examples if you want!
Oh so like how to make scrolling frame infinite and questions like that? I thought it includes visual questions too. Ill change the category now.
That would be great, because I don’t really get what you mean. The buttons are inside a frame right now, they are just tightly packed. Do you mean I should make empty spaces between the buttons?
Keep in mind that I want to keep the whole UI style consistent with the “wooden” theme I got on other UIs shown above.
I’m pretty sure they want ways to improve the UI, not just rating. You could point out more specific features they need to change, and how they could change it. Pretty sure that’s the whole point of this post, but rating isn’t as bad I guess
I would suggest learning the fundamentals and principles of design.
One change you can make to the buttons and currency in the upper right corner and make the icons yourself. Make icons that fit the theme of the game and are consistent. The super-detailed purple icon does not go with the relatively modern/simplistic shop and backpack icons. Another change is aligning the currency to the right side of the screen so there isn’t that awkward game on the right or even just extending the whole thing to the end. Another change is making all of it just bigger, the icons are super cramp and tight against each other allowing room to breathe and the view will better the functionality and aesthetics of the UI. Another change you could make is adding some detail to the border that’s behind the menus & timer,
you can see in this example UI the nice framing and use of patterns to add to the UI elements in the frame.
Once again, I know you don’t want huge but upping it 40% even would make a world of a difference for your UI as a whole. Now, I don’t intend to go further in detail for the rest of the UI but I would avoid the use of excessive amounts of colors. Keeping to a color palette will improve the look and remove the irritation players may get in their eyes looking at a bunch of different neon colors every time they open a menu.
I know that frame decorations maybe made it look less structured, but It definitely looks more interesting this way.
I still haven’t found a good place or way to put the currency gui. The problem is currency is “Amethyst”, which is purple, so I can’t make it brown or black like the rest of the gui, but with purple it stands out too much.
If no solutions for this are found, I will put the currency gui only in places where it is used (shop GUI, crafting GUI), and not on the main screen, where it serves no purpose.
P.S. Almost all the gui so far is improved by suggestions from DevForum. So if there are any more suggestions to overall UI, please voice them, they are helpful.
As a reference, here’s what the gui looked like before I started improving it by suggestions.
