I made a tower defense game recently and I’ve spent some money on sponsors, but they haven’t been doing the greatest. Only a small percent of players stay and come back, and of those that that do don’t come back for long. Can anyone give me some feedback as to things that need to be improved? Maybe the game isn’t the issue but something else like marketing?
I think it could be an issue of not having a tutorial.
Your goal with sponsors are to be picked up by the algorithm. This means you need to have a good average playtime and player retention rate (and monetization tbh). I would say your best bet is looking at the players who currently play the game, and figuring out what makes them want to leave.
When I joined the game I noticed players would join and not do anything, and the ones who did left after making it to the play area. So again, kind of confirms it was something to do with the game being too confusing at the start.
This also kind of depends on the sponsors you ran.
Hope this helps!
The tutorial doesn’t work.
You should probably change the background music, it sounds like a tycoon and not a tower defense.
The lighting definitely isn’t the best in this game, it’s pretty dark, try messing around with color correction and stuff, or just find a yt video on good lighting
It was also very confusing to know where to place goku.
Lastly, it was also kinda confusing on how to cancel your towers, it just said “press key”, maybe add a Q keybind or something to cancel, and then make it clear.
