Need Feedback help on my game

Hello Developers,

I need feedback help on my game, Rooms Vote or Die. Recently, a critical bug was fixed, but retention has been unexpectedly low since then. I’ve playtested on phone and PC and everything works fine, so I’m struggling to understand what’s causing new players to leave.

If you’ve never played a Rooms-like game before, would you mind playing for 10-15 minutes and sharing honest feedback? Specifically:

  • What confused you?
  • What made you want to stop playing?
  • What would make you come back?
  • Any suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

Hello There!

Here is my honest feedback after playing the game for about 14 minutes:

1.What confused you? Nothing really confused me! The core mechanics and choices were straightforward.
2.What made you want to stop playing? To be honest, I almost left during the first 4 minutes. Nothing major was happening, and it felt a bit repetitive. I found myself asking, “Am I just going to open doors and make basic choices the whole time?” However, after the 4-minute mark, the fun actually kicked in because much tougher choices started appearing! Also, on my second run, hard choices came up earlier so I was much more entertained. I know it seems random, but a really impatient player might leave very quickly during those slow starts.
3.What would make you come back / Any suggestions?
4.Pacing: I’d suggest introducing the harder choices 1–2 minutes earlier. If the questions are generated randomly, slightly increasing the chance for difficult choices early on would help hook players before they get bored.
5.Variety & Shop Items: I noticed the store currently only offers cosmetics bought with XP. Adding functional gameplay tools that give slight advantages—like a flashlight with a longer battery life or other useful items—would make the store much more rewarding and give players clear goals to spend their XP on.
6. Room Types: I would definitely return if there were more unique and interesting room types to explore as you progress.

Overall, it’s a pretty cool concept once it gets going! Good luck with the development!

I LOVE THIS GAME, it’s genuinely so fun. At first, I would’ve been really confused about what each entity did, but I like how you explained what they do in the guides/paper.

I feel that I would’ve tried to keep playing until the end?? But, I did die, and I was in a rush to get my gcse results too… But nothing really made me leave the game.

I think you could add badges/rewards for certain things, I think also more equipment could be better. Right now, I think I only saw batteries around the rooms. Maybe more could be added??

Hello! Here’s my feedback, briefly:

While playing, I didn’t have any difficulty understanding the game. The main mechanics are very simple and easy to understand. The only thing I felt was that the gameplay became a little too repetitive. You spend a considerable amount of time simply walking around and opening doors, which might get boring for some players.

I’ll admit that at one point I thought the game was going to be nothing more than a walking simulator. That changed when I reached the part with complete darkness. The flashlight barely illuminated anything for me. I played on mobile, so I’m not sure if this was because my phone is an older model, but I genuinely had a hard time seeing anything even with the flashlight.

I think what your game is missing right now is simply more content. This could be new rooms, new items, more cosmetics, and other things to keep the gameplay feeling fresh.

I wish you the best of luck with the development of your game, and I hope this feedback helps!
