I’m interested in developing a game similar to Guts & Blackpowder and was wondering how many people would be interested.
If you haven’t played it, it’s essentially similar gameplay to COD zombies, but in the napoleonic era. A round based zombie survival game.
The game would be called “Jungle Nightmare” and it would take place during the Vietnam War. It would have different map rotations, including Vietnamese villages, places like Hill 937, and cities like Hue, Saigon, etc.
Here are some extra details!
Ideas for things that need scripted
Advanced zombie script Essentially what I am looking for is a script that allows multiple zombie types that will slowly increase in numbers and difficulty as the rounds progress. They need to be well animated and have sound effects as well.
A round based zombie survival mode This will basically just be like COD zombies. It starts on round 1 and goes up for as long as all the players can survive. Difficulty increases with rounds. If a player dies, they cannot spawn in until the round is over. Dead players can move camera freely around the map to spectate Aswell. (THEY WILL NOT BE TAKEN BACK TO THE MAIN MENU)
A simple gun system The gun system just needs to have working guns that have good sounds, animations, and models. No need for a GUI. Preferably TPS and FPS, but if that isn’t possible FPS is fine.
A main menu. This may be somewhat difficult to describe what I’m looking for, but I’ll try. The menu will have the name of the game, its own music, a sound that plays when exiting the menu, a sub menu for class selection, and in the background will be a still camera shots of the map changing every 15 seconds or so.
A class changing menu This menu will be for players changing their class when they have exited the main menu. For example, if a player is in the game currently and playing, they can press “L” to make a menu appear giving class selections whilst keeping them in the game.
A map voting feature We will have around 3 maps when we first release, so we would like to have a feature where players can vote to change the map after 3 or so games in one map.
They will most likely be apart of the map. Everything in the spawn area is just model’s that will be included in the game. Though, some do need re-made.
And as for the lobby, it will just be a menu screen. I will post an excerpt from a previous post that describes it.
" 1. A main menu. This may be somewhat difficult to describe what I’m looking for, but I’ll try. Also, I just added another part of the post that has a list of some other details that includes this.
For most of this I don’t see why not. COD zombies works, G&B works, why wouldn’t the same concept set in a different time work?
You say zombies’ health will increase as the game progresses, but then you plan to introduce new types of zombies that by default have more health and eventually replace the zombies that existed before.
To me it seems like two ways of doing the same thing, and having both is pointless. Why have new types of zombies with more health if you can just increase the health of already encountered zombies? Why increase the health of zombies if you’re going to bring in new zombies with higher health?
Do you plan to differentiate this game from similar games? G&B is set in an older time period in which the combat is different due to the weaponry. COD zombies is fast paced and uses powerups.
Other than placing the game in Vietnam and having it themed around that time and location, are you adding anything unique?
Love the idea definitely something I would play just because its set in an era so different to normal zombie games and also set in Vietnam.
However, I do have a question, are you Vietnamese or was there a way you found inspiration for your Vietnam builds? I only ask this because I want to build a Korean city (preferably something like Seoul) with models and buildings specific to Korea. The problem is, I do not live there nor do I know much about their culture in the city and buildings in the city.
Is there any suggestions or advise you have for me to create accurate Korean-like builds in the future?
I got inspiration for the Vietnam war era build because of my interest in the Cold War, specifically the Vietnam War. Games like Rising Storm 2 : Vietnam and various documentaries furthered this interest.
As for your Korean builds, I would suggest watching videos or perhaps documentaries on the city. I’m sure you can find various videos on YouTube regarding tours of the city and what-not. Those things might be a good place to start.
Wow that’s amazing, I hate watching documentaries but if I’m committed to making the game I want to make then I must.
I will definitely start watching tours of the city. Before I was trying to make individual buildings that looked one from Seoul but obviously that is not great idea. This really helped, thank you so much!
All I can say is, spice the game up by adding smth original because the current Roblox zombie games are painfully unoriginal with repetitive gameplay. Also, when I get the time, I’ll lyk feedback.
