I am currently building a modern house off of this website: https://tobiarchitects.com/en/portfolio/modern-house/ , but I need feedback on what I currently have so far. I do not have a lot of experience on building, but it does not mean I am unfamiliar with Roblox Studio. I have spent plenty of time (4 days straight) working on this house. The house is nowhere close into being finished.
I have included the game link so you can provide accurate feedback.
I also need tips on building models in Roblox Studio. As you may see, the house is unfurnished, meaning there is no furniture or anything that fills the interior. Right now, I am using free models to get an idea on how an model is supposed to look like and has multiple tabs open to do some research.
If you want to make models of an existing thing, the best way to do it is to get a reference picture and build off of that, whether it is in Roblox or some external program like Blender. If there is any modelling tips that I can give you, here are the following:
Use The Transform Tool if you aren’t already. It allows precision which isn’t possible with the default move tool.
Use CMD D to duplicate in the same place for accurate copies.
Think Uniquely. Always try to find a way around a problem that is unlike what others do.
I hope these tips helped, theres more you can find by searching the Forum!
If your device can handle it go into Roblox Studio file → settings → rendering and edit the quality levels to 20 or 21 for both the quality and edit quality levels. This will give you a nicer looking view port.
Nice! Some people miss the border on the bottom walls, but you didn’t. I am assuming at the window you are going to add curtains. I suggest using something like the clothe simulator feature in blender to create rigid parts. You can also add support beams at the curve of each wall to give it a little more detail. Other than that, not bad!
Try making the bed smooth on the edges so it’s not like a block. Do the same thing with the pillows if you want to get that realistic modern feel. Try to model a smooth door handle for the doors in the master bedroom.
The bedroom looks good, but one thing I would like to point out however is the Incorrect Wood Grain™ on the door and the door frame in pictures 1 & 3. It should look more like this:
Update: Seems like I got two and a half hour before 2020 hits. I want to see if I can finish the house before the decade ends. I need to do the kitchen and the bathrooms and then decorate the exterior.
Pictures
Apparently, all of the blocks needs to be resurfaced without layers since they all started showing up.
Update: As I was working on the kitchen, I realized there are multiple flaws.
The house’s size is inaccurate. Apparently, there were supposed to be much more space in the kitchen, the master bedroom, and basically every single room in the house. (basically the house is too small to fit everything in)
It turns out the stairs does not match the one in the website. Apparently, the stairs railing is just a glass connected with the stairs.
Before I even realized the size is a much bigger problem, I’ve decided to improvise by making modifications with the most of the furniture I have so far… and make the house a little unrealistic.
In this picture, the room is supposed to have a loveseat and a desk in it.
Since I noticed I cannot fix them inside, I decided to turn the room into a storage room.
In this picture, there is supposed to be fireplace to the left, from what it seems.
I decided not to put that in. That will require me to resize this whole room, which means I have to resize the exterior just outside, which means I have to resize the whole house and then restart almost everything. That would not be pretty.
I’d rather just put in whatever I can instead of restarting the entire house. Those pictures were just the few of the many things I had to modify due to the small size.
