I’ve been working on a game called “ScavengeR” for a while now and I have made some progress. Majority of the core mechanics I imagined while planning the idea of the game are implemented now. (I was going to show videos showcasing the features but DevForum wont let me upload them)
As you can hopefully tell, the game is like S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow of Chernobyl or DayZ.
Although what I failed to plan while thinking of the idea of the game is gameplay
I’ve thought if making it like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. where you get missions by traders, earn money by completing the mission, buy cool stuff with new money, maybe kill some bad guys. The flaw with this type of gameplay is that it is very boring and repetitive (at least for me)
So I want YOU to help me with making the gameplay. I want you guys to tell me what would be FUN and ADDICTIVE gameplay loop and what you guys would like to actually play yourself!
The idea of getting missions from traders sounds like a cool idea, but you could add a fun gameplay loop by adding randomisations and unpredictable stuff.
For example if the mission is repeated make enemies spawn in different places each time so the player cant really predict anything.
Maybe even scale the amount of enemies upwards every time the mision is repeated.
Basically just make the missions less like chores where you go to areas to grab an item and come back, add some action to the scene.
Not sure how useful my message would be but i hope you get the general idea.
Thank you for the response! That sounds like a great idea. I’ll try to implement some randomization to make it “dynamic”. And I, as a gamer know what type of missions I would like to play myself, so I won’t have trouble coming up with ideas for missions.
