I have a mesh that’s about 26k tris, and I want to import it but I can’t
And no, I can’t split it up in Blender because it is a sphere made out of a plane, so splitting it will destroy it.
How would splitting it destroy it?
There are no workarounds to importing limits. A limit is a limit. Reduce your triangles in Blender by using the Decimate Geometry tool.
Go into Edit Mode then Mesh → Clean up → Decimate Geometry
It’s a sphere made out of a plane using the Simple Deform modifier, so removing a chunk of it will make it become a weird inverted hourglass looking thing.
I can’t really reduce the amount of triangles because it is the earth with a heightmap, and reducing the amount would cause it to become super low quality and mountains would look like fat blobs.
There isn’t quite a workaround, I’ve had the same issues with my train model, that’s just sitting there at 200k+ tris. I just left it there sitting at Blender because importing each mesh separately will take ages:
Oh also, that somehow reminded me of how Roblox is being weird:
26k tris to start, import it fail.
Attempt to reduce to 21k and import it with avatar importer. Now it’s at 73k?
Reducing it more, back at 26k
Reducing it more, now at 116k
And this is 100% an error on Roblox because how the heck do I get like 10x more triangles when I reduce verticies in Blender?
Just apply the modifier and split it?
Yeah, I’ve been doing that, but it becomes a weird inverted hourglass like shape.
