Need help with spaceship map design

Hello, I am RoadToZion66 and I am making an FPS two team sci-fi horror game set inside a spaceship.

I have lately been struggling with thinking about what facilities and rooms does the spaceship need for its crew to use. I am also unsure about how large should the map should be so that it would not make the game feel boring for players.

Does anyone have any ideas for me with designing the map of the spaceship?

I have already tried looking through layouts of different spaceships from media to look for ideas for what to include in my map.

You should try to map it out like 2D. You could add a lab with fallen barrels filled with toxic waste.

The aim for my game is that a player is spawned in as an “hunter” alien and its main objective is to eliminate all players that are spawned as “crewmates” whilst they’re also trying to eliminate the alien. I am trying to put an emphasis on horror with my game with the alien being able to attack crewmates by surprise along with low light and dark areas.

I am also trying to put the focus on survival in my game, with crewmates being able to use melee weapons and firearms found throughout the spaceship to eliminate the alien but each player can only be able to hold three weapons at a time. Firearms would have an ammo counter on the weapon itself to show how many bullets are inside the gun, but the player won’t be able to see how much ammo they have in reserve. Crewmates can also choose to evade the hunter by hiding inside lockers and attempt to distract the hunter away from them through noise (players would also have to pay attention to sound to identify if the hunter is nearby). Cameras and detectors can be used for crewmates to track the hunter’s current position.

Some areas of the ship would be locked through keycards or passcodes, to which the crewmates would need to find around the ship for it to unlock it.

The hunter could also turn off the ship’s power in the reactor, forcing players to use their flashlights when navigating through the ship until they get the power back on.

I am aiming for each game to last at around 10-15 minutes.

Think of adding things like cover, and levels of attack. If the alien is able to say, spit acid having an area above that looks down on the players could be an interesting thing to implement.
Think about avenues of attack, where can players attack from and where can players run too.
Make different parts of the map favour humans more then the alien or aliens more then the human.

If you want the game to last 10-15 minutes I’d make the map pretty sizeable and without too much detailing.
