[Negotiable Pay] Youtuber looking for Rotational Minigames

Hey guys!

First I want to start that I am just the messenger, since they don’t have access to these forums I am posting on their behalf, I had a manager of some youtubers that contacted me looking for developers/builders to work with them to build a game. They are looking for a rotational mini-game style game. They aren’t planning to use their likeness in the game like. EthanGamerTV did with his. They are mostly there to advertise it on their channel and streams. They are up for offering a wage (which is probably what you would want to take) thats negotiable. If you are interested, DM me and ill let their manager know. Heres a more simplified rundown.

Who: 2 Youtubers/Manager with a collective 900k subscribers
What: Rotational Minigames like Ripull Minigames, etc.
How: Youtubers would act as project managers, after game is released would actively advertise on their channels.
Pay: Negotiable (Can be a wage, or a percent of project, etc. Depends what you negotiate)

If you have more questions I can ask their manager and add it to their post.

Depending on the situation, I might step in as a lead dev on the project, but definitely don’t want to do this alone as I have another project im working on in my spare time.

Edit: These are 2 of the bigger youtubers he manages.

What are they offering? Why would I make a minigame game and give them a percentage instead of just making it on my own and earning 100%?

Because you can get paid a wage, which I pointed out is what you would want to do. So even if the game fails, you still made money now. Instead of the promise of money, its guaranteed money

Not sure what they are offering money wise, thats something you would need to talk over with them.
Obviously they offer advertisement on their end like i mentioned in the post.

Edit: I just mentioned the percent of the game if for some reason the person who took the project wanted to do that for some reason.

Edit 2: Bolded the questions you had

Could we get an example of what kind of mini games they are thinking of exactly?

Could we get more information in general? Or have they not given anymore?

Things i’m curious about are deadlines, scale of the project, size of development team etc.

Does he/she need a team or can only one can develop it? This is not a sweet question but I know some people could ask themself lol.

But… why?

The last time this was done, the game flopped because the youtuber’s brand was shoved down people’s throats. This kind of thing never works well hence you’re leaving youtubers that have almost no experience in game development to direct the game’s development.

Please read before posting, I made clear that they weren’t going to put their likeness on it. The only way you know a youtuber made it is if they possibly mention it. But they won’t advertise it that way.

The point is that its a job, if I was getting paid to make it. I wouldn’t care if it did well afterwards or not. I mean of course you want it to do well, but it won’t effect you if it doesn’t.

Edit: Bolded the answer to your question in the original post since you missed it, most of these questions people are asking are in the post itself. PLEASE READ IT CLEARLY BEFORE POSTING CONCERNS

So then what do they have to do with it? Why not just make the game and pay them to advertise it?

This is not what the thread is about. Please stay on topic.

Your point is irrelevant because that is not what they are offering.

Alright, i’ll try to make this as clear as possible since some people don’t understand.

You will get paid a wage, as in you get paid a set amount daily/weekly/monthly to work on the project. You don’t have to worry about the promise of money hoping that the game does well. You will get paid like a job, to make this game and once its completed you don’t have to worry about if it does well or not cause you already made money for the work you provided. This is how jobs work.

Edit: Why not make the game yourself? Well you are essentially doing it for free not knowing if it will do well or not in the long run. Sure you can pay someone to advertise it, but now not only are you doing it for free with the promise of money, you are investing money into it as well.

Its called a contract job people…

From which company brand is the manager?

I should of put this in the post, he manages the youtubers directly. I’m not sure what the brand is. I’ll post some of the youtubers in the above post now

Edit: Added!

I was once referred by someone to make video thumbnails for a youtube gaming network. They mostly consisted out of minecraft youtubers who started making roblox content.

It went horribly to say the least. I felt uneasy just talking to them, they’re not like the devs i meet here. The whole experience felt overwhelming and stressful, i couldn’t last a day.

Definitely interested. Could you pass on their contact details to me?

So, outsourcing the development of a game.
Are they looking for teams or individuals to add to an existing? (noting that you mentioned you may step in as lead dev, do you already have ideas for the direction of the game?)

I can back this up. This particular network manager we spoke with did not understand the technical side, didn’t understand what ROBLOX was at all and was pretty hard to work with. I have had some experience working with him on stuff very much like what OP is suggesting, and it went terribly.

Could you let us know what the name of the guy who contacted you was @Nexx, that would make or break it for me.

TBH, wouldn’t be an issue if he just gave you a general outline of what he wanted, then let you lead dev the rest with occassional checks by him to have his approval.

On the other hand, if he wanted to be deeply involved in development dictating every feature and it’s behaviour, then I can imagine his interference would be annoying and disruptive to the flow of the game’s development.

So, what did happen?
