Not sure it’s a bug since they never intended for it, but it would be nice to see fixed, alongside:
-Shadows
-Lighting (Ambient/TimeOfDay and such)
-Fog

MesaGL doesn’t support shaders because it is a crappy CPU only rendering system from 1999.
