Due to the loss of legacy i’ve been trying to make my own version of neon (i really like shadow map but i’d like to make different neons) sooo i think i would like to make a custom outline that also goes around curves and edges on mesh parts (like the edge of a sword) suggested properties:
Color (customization like particles,
Transparency (customization like particle transparency:
Out size: how far it will go outside the mesh
In size: how far it will go inside the mesh (this can work if its set to 1 and the mesh has a transparency of 1 then the mesh will look like a particle itself.
Id: (has a decent default texture similar to neon but still customizable)
Light emission,
Light Influence.
and finally and object value called “Adornee” that is compatible with models that way if you put an outline around a model (like a character) it has an ultra instinct like effect where its a full on outline around the model.
If this would take a bit on the engine can u find a way to optimize it or at least let developers decide how they use it or not? it would be reaaally useful to effect heavy devs like me who make magic based games and even useful to other builders that like to make sifi stuff
just so it could look reallly cool.
with decals i think they should have the features that bill board guis have where u can change the image position and how much it zooms in. (this way spritemaps are more useful and dont only work on billboard guis (which dont wrap around mesh and bricks)
object value called “Adornee” that is compatible with models as well that way if you put the decal in it would actually look a loooot more like the model is one big part. (just to make the effect look cooler.
i would also like to have an image wrap feature (i understand if wrap features are tough on engines)
however when i see things like halo that has invisibility gifs around the person’s body
it would be epic (of course that would need gif support) also before u may say “decals can do that” decals can do that however decals use sides rather than all of the sides at once so in the circle this would end up making an awkward effect.
and for the last instance i would like i want a gif feature please (this doesn’t quite have to be a instance just an id type)
so basically this instance would make textures have the ability to be gifs rather than us developers having to make scripts for gifs (some gifs have around 70 frames…this could be a pain to upload and possibly just make a game really laggy) (and for people like me that like their roblox inventories clean its a pain to scroll through after having 70+ images. however gifs would be amazing for so many projects (spritemaps are just sooo painful.)
also can u please make images show width and height in properties?
BTW! ik the neon outline can seem like they’d be fine for particles however particle images can go away even worse they certainly cannot make this:
also particles arent good enough cause they go through the wholes rather than outline around them.
(also i player bodies should be fully customizable by developers allowing every part to be collideable or not)
and btw yes theres neon as a property however neon with black (or dark parts) never work
personally i understand you want to make roblox realistic
however roblox is a game for creativity this means we should be allowed to make it look realistic or cartoony, silly or whatever as long as we put our minds (as developers) up to it.
