New Analytics Breakdown - Segments

With the release of event & update analytics, it’s given me the idea for something that I would find particularly useful: Segment Breakdown.

With the rise of game events (blood moons, admin abuse, seasonal events), I would love an addition to AnalyticsService (or whichever service is most relevant) to set segments of time either through a toggle or a duration parameter that would appear across all analytics under a new breakdown category called “Segments”. Or some other name, I’m no linguist.

Some sort of method like AnalyticsService:SetSegment(“Blood Moon”)

The recently added event analytics are nice, but they are fairly rigid in their presentation.
With a system like this, we would be able to see them colour coded across all our analytics & not rely on the user-facing event system.
This would be a great way to see which events are successful across more metrics and could work seamlessly across every metric including custom events.

Note: This could be tied to the user-facing event system we already have, but in my personal use case my group runs events like this hourly and I’d like to track those events without listing them as a formal event.

We have daily event annotations on the graphs that shows start and end dates. You can enable these by clicking on “Events” under “Show Annotations” dropdown. Are you specifically asking for hour annotations?

I do use event annotations, but they aren’t practical at scale (like recurring hourly / half hourly events).

The three problems I have with them are that:

  1. It’s impractical to manually create an event that happens that many times in a day
  2. It’s not easily readable using start and end dates, even if I were to create formal events every half-hour that wouldn’t be very clear looking at a daily chart compared to colour coding.
  3. They appear to be missing from Custom Events. (I could be missing something?)
