New Asset Manager does not recognize I am on a published game, and refuses to let me upload

I am working on a game I have worked on for ages, and I needed to quickly upload a new image.
All of a sudden this is made impossible by the newly-adopted Asset Manager, which seems to be completely confused and does not recognize my game as being published, despite publishing.

I have tried restarting Studio but it does not seem to fix anything. It just won’t let me use the import button.

Hi! Sorry to hear that, that’s pretty frustrating. I’ll take a look at this and have an update when I found out more or it’s fixed. In the meantime, feel free to disable the beta feature for now to use the importer via the legacy Asset Manager.
Thanks for the report

Thanks. I’ll let you know if the problem resolves or persists, or if I can find any more information on why it wasn’t working. The only information I have is that it was a game uploaded by myself, not a group, as I couldn’t find much else

Hey, just wanted to say I ran into this issue, but for a newly created place file. Note that I’ve never seen this new asset manager before today. Those notes might help.

I’m able to reproduce the issue on a baseplate. I honestly didn’t know I had to publish a game to use the importer. Anyway, closing the UI and re-opening it didn’t work. Restarting studio did work for me, though.

Thanks for the additional info!
Yup, the legacy Asset Manager also required publishing first before being able to use the bulk importer (as well as the rest of the Asset Manager). However the other import buttons should still work even in unpublished places (like the 3D Import button).

I haven’t been able to reproduce this yet on my end but will keep trying, thanks for the patience y’all

Hello! Sorry for the late reply :sad_but_relieved_face:
This and a few other bugs have been found and fixed in the past few months. We’ll be posting a May-August update soon on the Asset Manager, Importer and more, which will cover things in a bit more detail. Please let us know through the DevForum again if you encounter any more issues, and thanks for reporting again!
