New "Attach Screenshot to report" is very low quality

PC Info: Windows 10, 22H2
Date First Experienced: 09/16/23

Reproduction Steps:

  1. Join a Roblox Game and open the main menu
  2. Go to the Report Tab
  3. In “Experience or Person” pick “Experience”
  4. In “Attach Screenshot” click Capture Scene
  5. Click “Highlight Scene”

The screenshot will now appear very blurry

Expected Behaviour: Screenshot should appear in the same quality I took it and the same quality it is shown before clicking “Highlight Scene”

Actual Behaviour: After clicking “Highlight Scene” screenshot gets very zoomed in and blurry.


We’ve filed a ticket into our internal database for this issue and will start investigating, we will update you when we have further information.

Due to limitations on texture size from the engine, the screenshot shown in the “Attach Screenshot” flow may look a bit blurry especially on higher resolution devices or large screens. The screenshot sent to our servers though is not affected by this engine limitation and will in most cases be higher resolution than what is shown in the preview.


BTW, we want to make sure this doesn’t interfere with the user experience, and so are continuing to investigate ways to improve the screenshot preview quality in the future.


Might just jump in here with a question; out of curiousity, will this be the same system used backend with the screenshot API Roblox is planning to release to developers? :eyes: Also, any ETA you can provide on it? :thinking:
