This is a great policy and it was very needed, but I’m worried about people accusing other people of things that might not have done. Such as, someone trying to get someone kicked out of the Developer Forum by making false accusations. Is there going to be investigations done if an incident is reported?
Thank you, a lot of people are putting shame to devforum’s name
It’s unfortunate that I’ve been attacked several times before by someone who used their DevForum status against me, but hopefully this policy will help out in stopping that; as well as discourage any kind of negative behavior between fellow DevForum members and everyone outside it.
Awesome!
This is unfortunately a much needed policy as there are individuals who have rather inflated egos. Hopefully this brings them down to earth in terms of the consequences for their ego.
I feel like this must be in response to something and I’m missing it and I need context/backstory so If It can’t be aired can someone private message me?
Fake reports from users is one of our primary concerns. We will be doing a deep investigation on it on any received reports. False reports we receive will lead to heavy consequences for the reporter if found to be malicious.
Very glad to see steps finally being taken on this. Thank you!
Thanks for this! This will help with the community in quality in many ways!
The only thing I’m worried about is users who might abuse this feature to essentially ‘take out of context’, or fabricate such a accusation. What are the standards and just how much evidence do you require in order to get a good judgement that someone’s behavior has been unfit?
What’s the opinion of someone using their ROBLOX DevForum status as a way to validate themselves as a good person to work with on a project with, and ask for pay upfront, and then after “working” for 2 weeks with nothing to show of it, completely disappears and fails to respond to any more messages on ROBLOX or 3rd party applications? I mean, this is of course a theoretical example, and has totally not happened to me or whatever. -sigh-
The topic of the thread is more so related to online presence on third-party media and that people should not abuse their developer status for behaviour that is perceived as being negative. It does not really relate to conflicts in development work, this is mostly for yourself to handle. I recommend setting up a contract next time in your case, if you hadn’t already, and/or paying in milestones instead.
However, if these incidents keep occurring with a certain developer, you may bring this up to Developer Relations and they may look into this (with respect to their devforum status – they still won’t solve any monetary/legal issues for you)
It was one of those things where:
- He was the owner of a decently well known game
- He was apart of the DevForums
- He needed the money upfront for the sake of DevEx
- He promised to get all the work done in a week
Now
- His account is dead
- His game and group was transferred to another account (unsure if him or not)
- His account no longer is apart of the DevForums
- He fails to answer to me at all on Twitter/Discord.
I don’t really care about the money, because all things considered it’s what I make in about 2 weeks for not doing much of anything. Just seems like a really garbage thing to do.
