New docs site is harder to navigate to using the first few letters of the URL

As a Roblox developer, it is currently too hard to navigate to the new docs site URL by typing the address into my address bar. Previously, I could type deve and my browser would auto-fill the rest of the address (developer.roblox.com) because it was a unique URL after the first four letters (first three letters wasn’t enough, as it could also be devforum.roblox.com). These four letters, deve, were easily typed with the left hand, making it very easy to navigate to.

Now, the URL doesn’t become unique until the end, i.e. create.roblox.com/ is a valid website used for the rest of the create website (i.e. game and asset management), so you have to fully type out create.roblox.com/d before it autofills the rest of ocs for a full url of create.roblox.com/docs. This slows me down and makes me prefer to access the old website because it’s easier to quickly type and autofill.

If this issue is addressed, it would improve my development experience because I can access the newer docs site in the same streamlined fashion I am used to accessing the old one, which will help me transition to the newer website with updated documentation.

Proposed solution:
Putting docs as the subdomain prefix, such as docs.roblox.com would be intuitive and unique across other Roblox-related URLs just from the first letter (though it may clash with popular docs.google.com, but still only adding two more characters .r to become unique). I don’t see link on create.roblox.com that goes to the documentation website, so it doesn’t seem important for the docs site to be nested inside create.roblox.com.

A future solution:
Once the old site becomes fully obsolete, hopefully developer.roblox.com will be made to redirect to create.roblox.com/docs.

I used to do the same thing, but to solve it I just created a Bookmark in my web browser.
One click instead of typing.

I have also done this, I need to train myself to use it more. I don’t use bookmarks for anything else, and it requires me to switch to using the mouse to click the bookmark, which is why I end up preferring to just stick with the old site at the moment anyway.

Thought I’d at least raise it here as a point of friction.

Yes, but aren’t you clicking on the URL bar to type on it anyway?

Ctrl + T automatically selects the address bar in a new tab, or if I’m already on a page, I can hit F6 to select it.

At the moment, I can navigate to the bookmark with hitting Tab twice and using the Right arrow key, Enter to select. I wonder if there’s a faster keyboard shortcut to select the first bookmark or something? I use Firefox.

edit: Is there a shortcut code that opens your first, second, third, bookmark from your bookmark toolbar? Safari has this where command+option+1 opens bookmark #1 | Firefox Support Forum | Mozilla Support
There’s an add-on I can get to add some shortcuts for bookmarks, otherwise they recommend just doing it the above Tab way.

Hey!

I can totally appreciate that this flow is a touch more difficult right now. We’re slowly unifying all our creator web products under a single domain, and I’m super excited to be able to talk more about this in the future.

At a high level, there are 2 things we’re actively working on to help this transition:

  1. Yes, as we continue to work on Docs Site, and deprecate DevHub, the old URLs will redirect to the new ones.
  2. We are working on unified navigation, that will allow you to easily go between the different sites, so landing on the wrong create.roblox.com/{product} won’t matter nearly as much, because you can just navigate to the right one from there.

Hope that makes sense!

Thanks
