New exploiting loophole?

I don’t know if this is the right category, but this is kind of urgent.

I was playing a certain game in the platform and me and some friends were having this feud against a couple of people who I will not name as if I am wrong it could still paint a bad image towards them. So my character dies for absolutely no reason as far as I saw and then I thought one of them was hacking, I decide to report them to ROBLOX. And not even a minute after…

“Channel : zsigncapturemetadata”

I’ve never seen THAT line before within disconnection errors, hell it may be a stupid question but I found that odd…

My whole internet went down with it but thats not the main point. Error 277 is an internet issue, im used to it but the timing on that was too perfect, maybe it IS a coincidence and im overthinking it but I need to know, just WHAT is “zsigncapturemetadata”? Is there any new loophole within the ROBLOX coding that exploiters can take advantage of? Is my data in actual danger or nah?

This might sound crazy, but I could easily replicate this error code by changing my router, which has a different ISP. This is also an issue I only recently found out is happening. (I use one of the ISPs with fewer ping spikes to play shooter games, but the other with generally lower average ping to play other games.)

As you can see in the image, the same error code can be easily replicated. Please also ignore my network and physics statistics; I was testing something related to the game, not related to this issue, I just so happened to scroll through.

Anyways, I’ve also gone to Red**t on r/RobloxHelp, and what do you know, many others are also experiencing a similar issue of “Error Code: 277”, just with a different channel, depending on the situation.

Anyways, I’ve also checked my ping and other related stuff using external sites:

My hypothesis:
Roblox is currently working on/improving features relating to Roblox’s servers, hence the constant issues you can find.

Replying to your question: “Is my data in actual danger or nah?”
No, and may I know what specific data you are talking about? If you are thinking about the files in your device, then no.

Anyways, if what you said was true, then do you so happen to know your friends IRL? If you do, then maybe they know about your router settings. Try checking your firewall if that’s the case. If not, then what you said is just a coincidence.

Please remember this phrase, “Correlation does not imply causation”, both incidents could’ve just happened simultaneously, not because one directly caused the other.

This is the current production channel that you are using. It decides which current-version stable build Roblox uses. It seems to be irrelevant here.

Roblox appears to use both a TCP and UDP port and will automatically ask Windows to adjust firewall setting when applicable. On the router itself, a connection would not have been successfully established at all if the firewall was blocking either one of those ports.

It does appear that if the connection is lost, sometimes only one of the connections may be put back up in time. You might still appear connected (physics, replication, etc) but the other port’s connection was not established, leading to a disconnection. This happens if your computer changes connection, and it can happen frequently on low quality mesh networking if the connections aren’t reestablished quickly.

Try using ethernet and see if this problem still occurs. Otherwise, check status.roblox.com.

Yep, that’s what I exactly did to replicate the error code(As I’ve mentioned),

Interesting, I’ve heard about production channels, and I was kind of confused why the disconnection message would show it too, even when it’s irrelevant in the scenarios.

Something similar was happening to me in a game the other day but it happened after I got kicked. It wasn’t due to the connection. Yes your data is vulnerable to being exploited. It was rolling back my data to a previous save to where if I had enough currency I could have ended up getting a special item from RNG just from rejoining the game multiple times.. this vulnerability is widely known as “save scumming” and the reason these problems happen is because Roblox Internal Software is cooked

I have been experiencing this too, and I understand it’s due to some low quality internet, but I’m not sure why it has only just randomly just started happening to me after doing absolutely nothing with my isp or internet. Can the kick happen even after just a second of changing wifi? Because I can still hear my friends in vc while I’m in “Ping Freeze” so I dont know if its my connections problem

This is because your voice input is different from your voice output. You can continue to receive input until you are no longer present in the experience. You can’t send output properly while you’re in “Ping Freeze” because output is the transfer of your voice from your client to the server. Input is only on the server and everyone who has a proper connection to the server can be heard even from a client with a broken output. The server will not stop listening to everyone who has a stable connection but if your client has trouble connecting to the server the output will be affected, not the input.

The best way to understand how input and output works is a deck of cards. Those who have a valid output will submit their deck of cards to the server where everyone can see their deck of cards. Those who are present to see all of the decks of cards in the server will see them regardless of whether or not they have a valid output. Those who do not have a valid output will not be able to properly send their deck of cards to the server for everyone to see them. Sometimes those who do not have a valid output will send their deck of cards to the server and it will be received by the server but only certain cards will be visible to everyone. This occurs when the output is partially valid.

I mean in like discord and stuff

The information I provided is true across all platforms with voice chat

Like I said, there are probably two or more connections that Roblox makes. One of these (probably the TCP) disconnects, and Roblox is very picky. Roblox won’t even allow you two seconds to reconnect if the connection is dropped. This is probably done to prevent people from intentionally lagging to exploit certain experiences.

The fact that it’s happening recently, though, is probably due to infrastructure changes in the Roblox application that makes it less efficient. Like 90% of all software, naturally it will get worse over time, with connections that probably require more bandwidth than they used to.

Open the network monitor (Shift+F3) to see your connection information while you’re playing. If anything looks blatantly obvious (dropped packets, high ping, etc.) then it likely has to do with your internet connection.

I don’t experience spikes whatsoever, It will just randomly freeze my ping every now and then and dc me and it only started a few days ago. I’m sure my internet hasn’t degraded that badly in that timespan. While it could be true Roblox is doing infrastructure change and such I wish they were more open about it.
