New Explorer | behavior: Deselecting a folder auto deselects all descendants

It strongly restricts my work and has no use, at most for building, but not if you want to edit the properties of all, because the properties are STRONGLY reduced by the selection of the folders.

Expected behavior

Deselecting a Folder should not deselect all descends, like in the old explorer. There should be at least an option to disable this unwanted behavior.

They’re not selected, they’re just highlighted. If you want to select children, you can try box select.

Is that something else than using STRG or SHIFT?

I want to bulk select very much. And this worked before, and now it doesn’t and shows awful unwanted behavior. I will now have to leave the beta to work on my project.

This is my expected behavior, the behavior the old Explorer has:

[It’s also not perfect, but much better than the new behavior]

I still am not particularly sure what you’re asking for. The original thread is saying it should not deselect descendants, and it’s not–those aren’t selected.

That being said, the newest version of Explorer (I forgot to put a version number on it) supports a different shift select behavior that’s probably what you want.

That’s my problem. In the old explorer they got selected and I could just de-select the Folders.
Maybe some settings where you could enable such specific things were nice.

Can you describe the exact inputs you’re doing on old explorer that aren’t working on the new explorer?
