New explorer does not respect `Show plus button on hover in Explorer' setting

The new Explorer beta does not respect the Show plus button on hover in Explorer setting.

I have this setting set to false:

However, the plus button still shows in the explorer:

This occurs in Studio 0.667.0.6670665.

Expected behavior

My expectation would be that the setting is expected and I do not see the plus button when I hover over a line in the explorer.
