New Forum Feature - Block User from PMing You

We just enabled this feature of the RBXdev forum PM system. On every message you have the option to block the sender. You can’t block them until they’ve sent you at least one message. This feature does not block you from seeing their forum posts or them being able to reply to your forum posts.

I appreciate this – I was having trouble with this very recently. Though, should we really need to resort to blocking people in the first place? Shouldn’t the person in question who is harassing you by PMs be banned until they can behave appropriately on the developer forums? Blocking them is just a bandaid for the problem, and doesn’t really solve the issue of a poisonous member causing trouble on the forums. With the blocking feature you’re stating that the would-be blocked person is going to be allowed to continually harass you – otherwise there wouldn’t be a need for a blocking feature.

Probably they don’t want to have to mediate disputes between adults* so they give you the tools to ignore a user if you can’t work it out yourself.

I do not understand why we would ever need such a thing.

I will agree with woot3 on this. I thought we were all mature people that could settle disputes if they came up without needing to block the other person. Has something came up that shows this is needed?

If a person needs to be blocked then that person isn’t an adult.

Someone was banned from harassing via PM, I’m not sure of the exact details; but it is needed.
I’m assuming if the harassment isn’t major, this will be the fix.

I just got one guy that asked me to help him with a project multiple times.
