[New Gen Explorer] typing in the middle of a field doesnt work

If you type anything in the search bar, and then left-click to move the cursor anywhere else in the search bar besides the default position at the end, it causes the search bar to malfunction:

I was simply typing 1 and deleting a few letters, but it inserted the text into weird positions and duplicated the text.

Hi, I can’t seem to reproduce this.

To confirm, this doesn’t happen on normal TextBoxes for you? We’re not doing anything too fun.

If so, can you record a video showing your exact keyboard movements?

This has been happening for me as well. I am not sure how to reproduce this because I’m not sure what’s causing this at all, but to my knowledge this only started happening to me after the new gen UI update entered the opt-out phase the other day, and it still happens even after opting out of new gen. I have not tried opting out of the new gen EXPLORER yet though.

This isn’t just limited to the explorer, this also happens in at least a few other Studio text fields (such as the fields in Game Settings).

This happens regardless of what we type on the keyboard, just typing anything at all in the middle of the field will cause this to happen.

Edit: Opting out of next gen explorer stops this issue from occurring not just in the explorer search, but in the other text fields too. It appears to be that beta feature that is causing this even outside of the explorer.

Another edit: The Next Gen Studio Preview beta feature on its own doesn’t cause this, meaning it seems to be specifically the Next Gen Explorer.

Strange! Coming back on PC today, I wasn’t able to reproduce the issue anymore. My guesses are it’s either related to:

  1. copy-pasting strings of text, then moving the type cursor
  2. using the search bar while in play mode, and then leaving & typing in it

however, neither of these reproduced the issue again whenever I tried. I’ll keep an eye out for when this happens again!

I’ve never seen this occur with any other TextBox I’ve interacted with either; though, I don’t use TextBoxes much.

It smells like this is a general bug with Studio and TextBoxes then–we don’t even use any custom component in there that other plugins use

Idk then because to my knowledge it only happens for me when specifically the next gen explorer is turned on which is really strange

Edit: as of today I can no longer reproduce the issue, maybe it’s been fixed or it only happens under specific conditions that I happened to fulfill every time? Not sure
