I made a new map for my game, Chocoblox Factory Tycoon and I would like your feedback on it! I’m going for a bit of a low-poly/cartoony feel with this map.
I’m also remodeling the machines in the tycoon, you could also give feedback on that! I’m trying to make them look kinda like real life chocolate machines, but right now they kinda look too simple.
The map for the most part is very plain and flat with just a few trees as it’s decoration. I suggest you add a bit of terrain to give your ground height variants and a bit more decoration.
Those are free toolbox hills and trees, or inspired by robuilder. Which not a problem or “Bad”
What jumps out at me firstly is lack of personal style development, if you had developed your own style you wouldn’t have to copy other peoples or use toolbox in any other way then reference.
The problem is not that you took models, or copied/remade someone elses work, the issue is you aren’t using there work in the context its meant to be used in. These hills were made for someone else’s artstyle his/hers hills/borders work well within their artstyle. They are much less boxy.
I have a video covering these point 10 minute mark i talk about consistency:
Anyway my recommendation is have the hills literally be 2 parts, green grass box on top and dirt box on bottom, stack and alternate, also make the tree leaves boxes. to make them look “worse” makes it better because it fits the context.
To be honest it looks a little bit empty. I would add some more trees or decorations like @sidthesuperkid87 and @TenBlocke mentioned. But other than that, it looks really good!
