New moderation rule

So recently there has been an on-going issue for people who play front page games.
Most people turn their messaging off due to this.
Basically what happens is your inbox gets flooded with messages from spam-bots asking you to join a specific group.

When reporting this I didn’t see a category for “Spamming” so I thought this needs to be added.
On extreme measures it would be great to warn the owner of the group being advertised to refrain from using bots because the bot is not the owners account obviously.

Definitely not just a recent thing, it’s been going on for longer than a year at this point. It would be better if there was something setup so that 1 account can’t send more than 5 messages within a certain time or something.

If its around for more than a year then that makes it all the more embarassing to not have this in the rules yet

Adding rules won’t fix the problem though, people use Alt accounts.

The way to fix it, is add a captcha.

Totally agree, captchas should be used on messages and comments to prevent spam

Maybe only add a Captcha if the user sends X messages within an hour?

It would get a bit annoying doing a Captcha each time you send a message.

I believe the OP was saying how the owner of the group specified in the message would be notified. While this sounds like a solution, keep in mind that it would become abusable, by that I mean that anyone can set up a bot, including enemy factions or just greifers.

I think that moderation ought to give IP bans if the account is, beyond reasonable doubt, sending spam messages as controlled by a bot.
