When selecting or de-selecting 2000 parts, as I have done many a time before, studio goes into a not responding phase to handle this. All of the parts do not receive the highlight selection around them, only some of them feature the highlighting.
I use F3X to move lots of parts at once to create the surface of my dynamic racetracks, and now I am unable to do it quickly, as with the selection highlighting causing lag, I have to limit the number of parts I am moving at a time.
As well, I had to do a double take, since it’s confusing the way that not all of the parts show the selection around them.
My system’s hardware is the following: PCPartPicker Link
I am running Microsoft Windows 10 Home, Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045
Processor: Intel(R) Core™ i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz, 4008 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 8 Logical Processor(s)
RAM: 32GB @ 2133 MHz
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Driver Version: 31.0.15.3118
This specific issue with large quantities of parts not all being selected properly has been around since long before the fancy new highlights came around.
The lag part, however, is likely exclusive to the new highlighting.
super annoying since before the highlight thing i could select a mass amount of parts just fine, but now, it just gets so laggy, i can only wonder what it is like on integrated graphics.
Me remembering the dozens release notes with selection improvements, in both general, speed, performance, and other issues. Just for all that to be thrown out the window with the new change. While the idea of this change is awesome, the amount of lag and problems it came with just drags my workflow back again as I have to wait extra long for Studio to not freeze or lag.
I’m experiencing it too, even when selecting individual parts. The new selection highlight has been neutering my studio performance along with the mouse polling-rate issue despite having a pretty decent PC.
