Next Gen Explorer has officially rolled out!

i can’t see my scroll bar, i can’t use ctrl + shift to select multiple objects, and studio highlighting all the children under a model or folder is distracting, i also seem to lose my place in the explorer when moving stuff around and having the select children under the hierarchy thing is inconvenient.

I believe it’s mainly the sub menus. Sub menus and “Show orientation indicator” are huge changes that may affect work flow, especially for builders. I am a scripter so I didn’t have too much issues with the change but I can see why others have bug issues with it.

And why is there no customization!? That was the whole point of this. They need a option to get rid of submenus and have one big list.

I’m not sure on the plan for icons off hand. I’ll reach out to the designer for that feature.

not sure how this happens, but having UIGradient in objects will cause it to be unselectable sometimes. I have to close out studio and reopen it to make it work again

It feels like it is supposed to have icons because there is a small space for an icon at the left and would help people visually that don’t want submenus.

You could also re-use icons. The icon for “InsertPart” could also be used for the “Hierarchy” submenu items.

Thank you for reaching out!

Almost everyone here explained why workflows would be impacted, and if they didn’t, it’s likely just deductive reasoning. Any time there is any structural change, muscle memory is impacted; the longer someone used Studio, the more they’ll need to relearn it.

Sub-menus are the most dangerous change for this reason. It echoes when almost everyone complained about the sub-menus introduced to Windows 11. Even now, many are not used to the change in Windows. Even visual changes (like all parts under a parent being highlighted) can be distracting for some.

not a fan of Paste Into at Original Location being put into a sub menu, I use this as much if not more than the regular Paste Into. This adds a small extra step every time I’m transferring objects between places.

The first thing I noticed the moment I saw the new explorer open for the first time was the fact there’s a version label on the title!
It’s not a bad thing, obviously, but it’s certainly interesting considering most implementations of studio don’t have version labels.

Disregarding that, it would be nice if there were at least images on the right-click menu buttons, otherwise there wouldn’t really be a need to have empty spaces there.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I used to drag / reparent instances in explorer via Right Click almost exclusively. I don’t know why I picked up this weird habit, but now that’s impossible due to it not dragging the instances, but always treating it as a stationary right click.

I’m sure this is intentional, and I highly doubt anyone else navigated their explorer like this, but it’s a pretty big conflict with muscle memory. Maybe some kind of toggle? Although, it is understandable if this is a bit too nitpicky.

I agree, another dumb decision. Give us the option to keep the old stuff.

If you want to use an older version of Studio without to the new Explorer layout:

Recently, great updates. This one, god help me.
I design UIs on this engine since 5 years. Doing this now provided me a mental breakdown as I cannot even read the text (its blurry, small, different font) and all my muscle memory is different with the new elements and not working binds.
please allow us to reroll to the previous version. this one is not even out, it says 0.360 (beta?)
with upmost respect to the devs,

Please put it back in beta temporarily. It is affecting work flows. Consider every developer here. We don’t hate the idea of a new explorer but at the moment it is under cooked.

Yo @WinterStorm_Meow, this is kinda off topic, but in your profile it says you can “see vulnerabilities in remote events that hackers like and stuff ” How does that work, I’m interested it understanding how that works, I’m quite curious about how you can figure that out, it’d be cool to know.

I have about 5-6 years under my belt with coding but this never crossed my mind of importance.

I could private message you about it in a moment.

Cool, thank you so much man!

I feel like it’s slower. I don’t know. Maybe it’s because it takes it longer to highlight everything.

Interactions are definitely cluttery. I would expect performance improvements at the least.

speaking of viewports can u guys please make viewport frames have a quality setting or something. they are too blurry especially on mobile and when they are certain sizes

I agree. This was released too early. All the next gen UI NEEDS to be pushed back at least 2-3 months, the developers were clearly not given enough time - whether by themselves or by higher-ups - to really flesh this out and iron out all the wrinkles.
